Atlanta 94 question

edited March 2008 in The Porch
At one point, I think after W.M.A., Ed says: "Tomorrow morning look in your history books and figure out why it's important...tomorrow morning."

Anyone know the significance?

(hoping it's not something blatently obvious and now I look like a huge jack ass for not knowing.)

The show was over the Easter holidays so I figured it was always something to do with the rebirth of Christ or something...my religious knowledge isn't too great though.

The rebirth of Jesus and the glory of the lord. Oh lord how we remember you on such days.

Blessed be Eddie for reminding us all of the true meaning of Easter.

Actually, when they returned to Atlanta in 1998, Ed reminded everyone how they had played the Fox Theatre shows on Easter weekend in '94.

He said something to the effect of "that's when I actually believed in God." I'd have to listen to the '98 show again to confirm.

He also says at one point, Michael Jackson is innocent. I guess we're all entitled to mistakes.

that's ok. i didn't know what he meant either until i actually got a history book out and low and behold, there was no mention of it b/c our history books in school were completely slanted.

The Sonic Reducer from that show was awesome. Pearl Jam live has it up now so you can go back and listen, and I of course only had it on Cassette as well. I remember having to decide when to switch the tape, lol.

panicked moments. i also had trouble deciding when too. seemed like they could just burst on at any moment just when you thought there was enough time to switch out tapes. i'd always get pissed if i missed any of ed's speeches. almost treasured those as much as the music for some reason.

Best part of that whole bootleg.

For me the best bit is when he sings Satan's Bed lyrics at the end of Rats "Torture then reward, follwed by torture, follows reward, I'm already in love, love, love..." Think I got that right anyway. Ah...it's all good, one of their great shows for sure.

I remember the night this was broadcast. We were all partying somewhere and we flipped the radio on and I couldn't believe it. I ditched the party and ran home and taped the rest of it. I could swear that shortly afterward there was a 2 disc boot released (not officially of coarse). I remember a friend showing it to me and it was sort of a box set type of thing and she told me there were only so many made. I was so jealous at the time. I could be mistaking...anyone remember?

the dissident single was 3 discs, and was most of the show...not the whole thing...maybe like 2/3.

Nope that wasn't it...those dissident discs are great though. I used to have them then someone broke into my car and stole all my CD's. I lost a lot of good PJ stuff that night.

It was most likely something someone threw together but I'm not sure because this was before the days of CD burners
