East Harlem/New York Question

  • Nice to see the people making outlandish comments live in Jersey and Long Island. These 'New Yorkers' know Penn Station, the Garden, and one or two shit bars in NYC yet they are willing to spew racist, streotypical statements about a NYC they know nothing about. Go back to Jersey!!!

You should be fine staying there, especially if it is highly recommended. Just be smart about your stuff and yourself, which is true no matter what neighborhood you are in.

    Peace out Bitches.

I stayed in Harlem (135th street) and walked around in Harlem in the middle of the night. I stayed there 3 days. Fun and good memories!

That was in 2006, I was 19, my brother 22. We're both short and small European guys :D
    THANK YOU, LOSTDAWG!

ok ok - I am the second half of the formerly German-Harlem travel group...We tripled our expenses and moved to Gramercy Park now. After all these comments and since travel guides are a little restrained too, when it comes to Harlem...Well, they say, the crime rate in Harlem declined more than that of total NY, but from what starting basis???
It's not only that we're a little scared now (I'd prefer to linger home from the subway at a summer night and breath some NY air, rather than to get out of breath from running home...), but this place is just so far away from anything else we want to see....

Well, that's sensible. Especially since you are foreigners, which could make things a little more complicated. But please don't lump Harlem all into a big "unsafe" pile. The western part is safe, enjoyable, lively, and colorful.

    Have a ball! :)

I got tickets to 7 or the 8 shows I wanted to see. I didn't get MSG 1.

I live in the East Village, a 20 minute subway ride from MSG and arguably the best neighborhood in the city. You and a friend can crash with me for 2 nights after the MSG shows in return for selling me a pair of 10c tickets to MSG 1 at face value.

    Interested?
josh@bustedtees.com (please include the 10c number if the tickets I would get)

    THANKS!

Thanks for that great offering, but we didn't get MSG I either and are just trying to get a pair in exchange for our second pair of MSG II! Furthermore, we'll be staying in NY for a complete week. Good luck to you!!
