Just thought it would be cool once we get done mailing in our entries to make a page we can actually see the entries. So put a link to your poster AFTER you have mailed it or e-mailed it.

Here was my entry, just skip past the picture on the top of the page

Very cool! Thanks for posting and I hope others do as well. Can't wait to see what this creative bunch comes up with. :)

yeah right, I'll hook message pit members up with a message pit only edition ;-)

shit...someone else show a poster for cryin out loud I wanna see some art!
  • I've come up with a rough design. Just put two standard pieces of paper together and sketched together my idea. I think it looks really good, but my knowledge of PhotoShop and the like is slim.

The problem is.. Once I scan it, that's all I know how to do. I want to add color to it (MSPaint is as far as I go), I want to smooth everything out. Make it look like a real poster.. So I can actually get it printed onto a poster board (11x17 of course).

Would anyone be willing to mess around with it and "refine" my idea? I'm not in this for glory or anything, I'm not even sure if there's any prize aside from an autographed poster (I mean money). Toss me a PM if you're interested.

It is a mixture of photoshop CS, and real photography. I had to make up Jake and Elwood for the most part(yes they are both in the car). The Rialto is about 5 minutes from my house so I went an did a photo shoot one night. The rest was editing, cropping, filters, reductions, enlargemnts, simplifying the color scheme, getting the perspective and sizes correct, working a sort of decent composition. Rotating and skewing the car, modifying the shadows, removing noise here and there.....it is as much of a pain in the ass as it sounds trust me. Beleive it or not nothing in here is from the actual movie, though I did refer to it. The car is from a picture of a toy model of it that I drastically changed. Getting it down to 4 colors was the hardest part as it started from a real color photo with the full range of colors and values.

The day dream that they will actually play the venue with supporting cast drove me through all the labor, no matter how much I knew that would not happen...just the slightest chance made it all worth it. I just wanted to make something cool with a flavor for the city it was in.....

POST YOUR POSTERS HERE I WANT TO SEE SOME!
  • that is SO SO SO good!!!!!!

  • Nice, the colors behind the hand are great.

I'm not a New Yorker so cut me some slack, is the M F C supposed to be a subway theme?

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I think they should have multiple winners, different categories, best painting, best computer generated, most creative. I think to pick just one winner would be too hard.

Finally someone steps up to the plate! I liked it a bunch man give yourself some credit. You and I are a lot alike in trying to make posters that refelct the location and venue. I like Klausen and Ames's stuff, but sometimes it is so random and unrelated to anything. I know you kind of run out of ideas after 500 or so poster too though...

Just remeber the blues brothers will run those horses down like grass in that Chevy Caprise! Just ask the Illinois nashitzees what jake and Elwood do to people in their way!

lets get some more up here it is awesome seeing what each other creates.

Am I the only one actually DRAWING my poster instead of "cheating" (:D) using computer programs? BTW, not quite done yet - got most of the sketch done, but still need color, then scan, the print onto medium stock paper...
