Mark Sandman was my Bruce. Never really listened to the "Boss". Anybody have suggestions as to which albums to check out? And don't say "All of em", cause that shit ain't happening. My 80GB iPod is close to full anyway.

my personal favorite - Darkness on the Edge of Town
I don't know how anyone could hate Bruce, but to each his own. He is by far the greatest songwriter of our time, in my opinion. Guys like EV and Neil Young are great too, but they don't even come close to the way Bruce expresses the hardships and beauty of everyday life. Sometimes it's ridiculously fun, and sometimes it's intensely somber and personal. The music means so much to me that it's almost impossible to say what it really means... but it's just on another plane. If ever I could choose a band that I could like more than PJ, it'd be Bruce. The 70's-era, youthful Springsteen who sings about youth, growing up, love, anger, and escape speaks to me more than any other music I've ever heard. But all of it, no matter what decade, is amazing. And it just gets better as I get older.

Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town are the place to start if you ask me. You're in for a treat.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win

Watch some live stuff on youtube. Songs like "The River", "For You", "Lost in the Flood", "Backstreets" and "Thunder Road" will set you out on the right foot. "Jungleland" and "Incident on 57th street" are my favorite songs so check out those as well. I recommend the album The Rising to get a taste of what he is like now. Go with Darkness on The Edge of Town to get a feel for him in the past.
Enjoy you lucky pitters.
I would love to hear him play 1 song I adore..
The Ghost of Tom Joad. The harmonica in it is so haunting as is his lyrics.
Gotta check if he's comin to Toronto, Canada.

Darkness as great as it is.. Bruce oversang and the band underplayed. plus it needs to be remastered.
i think Tunnel of Love is a fantastic record although it does have some of that 80s synth cheese sound to it at times. the divorce record.
Nebraska is my favorite right along with Greetings. if you really want to hear some wild shit go track down Springsteen's early 70s acoustic material. very raw and very different. his audition tape is out there... stunning. songs like Cowboys of the Sea, Two Hearts in True Waltz Time, Arabian Nights, Southern Son, Marie, Jesse, Prodigal Son, Song For Orphans, Balled of the Self-Loading Pistol, etc....
oh, and if you haven't heard the acoustic version of Thunder Road or TR's sequel, The Promise you are missing out!!!
