Eddie at Springsteen last night

According to Bruce's website http://brucespringsteen.net/news/index.html (read tour notes to the right side) Eddie was there at Key Arena last night watching from the side but didn't play.
This makes me sad because I have been thinking all week how cool it would have been for Eddie to come up and sing with Bruce. This would have been a dream come true since PJ and Bruce are my two favorite artists. It still was an awesome show, but this could have been a LEGENDARY show...at least to me.

I don't know...BS makes me cringe. Never did like him.

I think it's time for The Boss to come play a song or two with the fellas. Maybe Camden(since it is technically Jersey!) or MSG!
I shit and I stink. I'm real, join the club.

A friend, he called, I didn't mention a thing. The last thing he said was, "Be sound". Sound. I contemplated an awful thing, I hate to admit. I just thought those would be such appropriate last words. But I'm still here.

Jesus. What is your problem? ;)

Just kidding ... but his acoustic kind of stuff is genius. He wrote better songs than "Born in the U.S.A."

Born in the U.S.A. is a great song if you understand it's meaning. Also Springsteen to me, is one of the greatest songwriters ever. I put him second behind Dylan. If you read his lyrics they are poetic and timeless. Even his first songs are relevant in today's society. There is a reason why Ed loves the Boss. If you listen to mainstream Bruce I don't expect you to get him. Dig into his archives and you will find that his catalogue is unbeliveable and legendary.

Yeah, shame Eddie didn't join in on a tune. This is one of the Best Springsteen tours in some time. Then again, I don't know that he ever had a bad one, except when he was without the E Street Band. ?

As for his merit. Well. Saying you don't dig Springsteen is sort of like saying you don't dig the Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Petty...etc etc. He's a God among chimps when it comes to music. And I can understand people have their own personal taste. But ya know. i assume people who are down with PJ are lovers of good songs and the energy that rock and roll is known for. So sure, cringe when you hear Springsteen...but do yourself a favor and make sure you take a few listens of 'Badlands' 'The River' 'Bobby Jean' ' Darkness On the Edge of Town' and 'Radio Nowhere' before you write him off...the guy has forgotten more great songs in his sleep than 95% of the artist who have ever been recorded. You may very well not ever dig him...but there is a real good chance that like the Beatles/Zeppelin/ one day you will simply become aware and find yourself in tears screaming 'Born to Run' at the top of your lungs, just like the rest of us.

lol well, Petty was my thing in High School but now he just sounds awful to me and I never ever liked Dylan and only appreciate the Stones for who they are as legends. So does that mean I can't be a PJ fan?

I first saw Bruce in Philly in 1978. Paid a scalper $10 for a 8 dollar ticket on the floor.

Great live show then and now. Back then, 3+ hours with no opening band.

As for the working man, even back then he was supportive of Vets groups, food banks, etc. Not preachy like Ed can sometimes do, but informative and supportive. Others were busy supporting the whales and no nukes (which he did also). He just seemed to pick issues that struck home with the regular Joe on the street. I mean really, how many Whales have YOU seen lately? lol.

Here is a good link of Ed and Bruce.

arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride" ! Unknown

Damn those scalpers and their money grubbing attitudes.

I agree with what you are saying. :)
Bruce is awesome. I just saw him for the first time last year when he opened the tour in Hartford. Unbelievable.

    You can't sleep at night
    You can't dream your dream
    Your fingerprints on file
    Left clumsily at the scene

Your own worst enemy has come to town
Your own worst enemy has come to town

Yesterday the people were at ease
    Baby slept in peace
You closed your eyes and saw her
    You knew who you were

Now your own worst enemy has come to town
Your own worst enemy has come
Your world keeps turnin' 'round and 'round
    But everything is upside down
Your own worst enemy has come to town

    There's a face you know
Staring back from the shop window
    The condition you're in
Now you just can't get out of this skin

The times they got too clear
So you removed all the mirrors
    Once the family felt secure
    Now no one's very sure

Your own worst enemy has come to town
Your own worst enemy has come
    Everything is falling down
Your own worst enemy has come to town
Your own worst enemy has come
    Everything is falling down
Your own worst enemy has come to town

Your flag it flew so high
    It drifted into the sky

Love Bruce...that said, I think a lot of his show now is quite rehearsed and "planned"...not sure he does a ton of improv anymore. I also don't believe he loves to share his stage. There is a video of his and Ed singing Betterman on VFC together - Bruce sounds just terrible.

Springsteen sucks... I would hate to see him show up at a PJ show and butcher Betterman the way he did when Ed played it with his band...

Are you high??? You should have your TenClub membership revolked for making a statement like this. I understand people like him but comparing him to the Beatles??? Wow.

    Absolutely.

Springsteen was my Pearl Jam growing up. He is the one who has taught me the language I now speak everyday, and the one who introduced me to the town where I now live.

The other day I heard "the rising" playing in a store, and I was reminded about how incredibly beautiful and touching that whole album is.

Bruce is awesome, with the exception of the span between 1985 and 1994. If you take away that span of time, he has produced consistently good material.

His Storytellers that plays constantly on one of my HD channels is great. I had never even heard a lot of the songs that were on there (there are gaps in my Springsteen discography) ... and I thought they were great.

The Rising is one of those. Just an incredible bit of songwriting.

  • Man that whole album (The Rising) is just an incredible feat of songwriting. To me, it distilled down the entire spectrum of emotions and perspectives in the post 9/11 world (at least for the time in which it was written). That album is a masterpiece in my opinion.

Nice to see some fellow Bruce haters on this board. I've always felt like his music is supremely over rated and generic.

No it doesn't make you a bad fan. You just have a different view than I do. Also Devil and Dusts is one of my favorite albums. With songs like devils and dust, long time coming, and the hitter how can you say that album is bad? Also the D&D tour was amazing. Greetings and Nebraska are at the top for me. I agree with you 100% percent on the seeger sessions though. I never got that whole album. With a guy as talented as Springsteen I don't know why he would make a cover album.
