I live in NY...that's actually not a bad price for being that close. I've read a lot of ppl will be going to the shows and June is a very busy tourist month (although NY is always busy)

I'd book it if I were you. :)

The great part about this city is that it is filled with a ton of little hotels. Remember the island is only 12 miles long, and transportation is not an issue.
Staying by Pen is going to be expensive..... venture away look on the west side.... you'll find better deals!

Need any help I'm willing to advise...

  • I am staying at the hotel grand union at $165 a night. It is .5 miles away and it got pretty good reviews on tripadvisor.com. Oh, it also has a private bath.

  • I booked the Comfort Inn Convention Center - 442 W. 36th Street. Looks pretty good and close, and the rate is $188.

Anyone have any experience with it?

I'm staying at the Bowery Whitehouse , my home away from home when I used to hit CBGB, which was diagonally across the street. It's right near Bleeker and on Bowery Ave at , I think, Great Jones St. I paid $72.00 total..53 + 19 tax..for a single person room for a two night stay. The rooms go up to triples in room size ,though rooms are small. BW has lattice walls and communal bathroom. No luxury, but clean. Not far by subway ,or shared cab fare , from MSG.

stayed there in 02, but I was on a minivacation/roadtrip. I thought it had a great location. Walking distance to lots of NYC sites & Penn Station is just across the street.

i'm assuming you're staying in downtown flushing. if so, that's an easy ride on the seven train from main street to times square, where you can walk to MSG.

no real easy, you take the 7 train from flushing right to 42nd and switch to the 1, take it downtown one stop and your at the garden. subways run every 3-10 minutes depending on the time of day

I've looked into that place before and there's more than one review that says they have bedbugs though - that's the only thing I draw the line at.

  • I booked the Penn, but then canceled the reservation due to some feedback from fellow 10c members, and a few more reviews I read. Lots of reports of bed bugs, etc. So I got a room at the Wolcott which is a few blocks away, but still in walking distance to the venue. I just couldn't bring myself to spend 300+ a night on a hotel. I know it's NYC, but man. I just got back from Maui and stayed in a huge beutiful condo for 275 a night.

Was in NYC for the US Open last year, and it was very easy in and out of the city from Flushing. I guess it depends how close you are to the 7. We took it and at one point only left for Manhattan at around midnight, so at least you know it runs late. Probably smart to stay there cost wise. I decided to go cheap and book at Latham as well, but now I'm getting a little antsy about it. Anyone have experience staying there?

use priceline.com, you can get a 3 or 4 star hotel for around $100
i've stayed at the W hotel (one of the best hotels in NYC) for less than a hundred per night using priceline
50+ shows and lost count somewhere along the way

Another option is to stay in Jersey City and take the Path Train back over after the show. We've done that before.

I just checked the priceline maps for you. Upper Manhattan stops at 94th on the East and the West side is fine. So absolutely include it in your search. Very safe, both areas.

Stay at the Soho Grand -- PJ has stayed there. And I think they have private bathrooms!
  • I just booked the hotel affinia for 2 nights...it's right across the street from MSG. A little on the pricey side, but it is a suite and i'm splitting the room with a friend.

Chelsea Star Hotel...looks like a wacky little dive hotel, but it's cheap and right near MSG. I booked a quad for 2 couples, shared bathroom for $129 a night. They also have hostel rooms, for around $30-35 per night too...
