Would Like Help With Cause Close To My Heart,Sponsors For Kidney Walk

Dear Pearl Jam Family,
My name is Wayne Albanese and I have been a loyal Ten Club Member for many years. This Year 2008 is very special for myself and family. I have been blessed with "The Gift Of Life" A Kidney Transplant from my selfless,loving older sister Karen. This point in my life I refer to as"My New Beginning". With this sense of Gratitude that I now feel for this gift that I have been given,I am now taking action to get involved and give back to an important cause!!!
I am making a plea to you all to sponsor me in The National Kidney Foundations First Annual Long Island Kidney Walk. It is taking place on June 8th,2008 at Hoffstra University in Hempstead,New York. The purpose of this walk is for two purposes. First to raise awareness about Kidney Disease and Second the Importance of Organ Donation.
Sponsor me in this walk and it will help the thousands of others with Kidney Disease have their own New Beginning Also!!! Donate whatever you wish,every dollar will certainly help!!!

    I donated my kidney to my mother January 26th, 2006. I was 23 at the time and don't regret it one bit. She's still doing great.

    Thanks Alot Guitarhero27!! I just posted about this hoping all the great Pearl Jam Fans would help out. I did not think it would be so quick,thanks to you. Try not to let this thread get burried so that maybe we can raise awareness to this cause!!! Tell all you PJ friends about the thread!!!

    Once I saw it, I grabbed my credit card instantly. Stuff like this holds a spot in my heart. Donating is such an important thing in life, there are plenty of stats that will back that up, and awareness is key.

    Wayne - I hope you and your sister are doing great. My life has changed for the better since I donated, and words can't express how I feel when I read about people doing similiar things, and I do want to meet up with you.

    OK, Where will we be meeting. As far as Pearl Jam Shows in June. I'll be at 6/11/08 WPB,6/12/08 Tampa,6/24 & 6/25 M.S.G., 6/27 Hartford,6/28 & 6/30 Mansfield. Will you be comming up for the 6/8/08 Long Island Kidney Walk?
    I'm also looking forward to meeting up.

    I posted a donation to your cause. How wonderful your gift was...hoping you great health in the years to come. This pulls at my heart because a dear friend was just denied a transplant for reason that I would rather not post. A mistake from his troubled youth, I guess you could say.

    I'll be at both camden, dc, both msg's, and hartford

    In fact, on 6/24 I'll be at the Wishlist Foundation pre-party at The Cutting Room performing with one of my bands, No Code (the PJ tribute)

    We're actually playing this Friday at Sullivan Hall on Sullivan St right off of Bleeker.

    As for June 8th, I'm not sure if I can make it, my buddy's younger brother (age 10) is playing a show as part of a School of Rock, so I'm unsure at this point.

    Maybe you can make it down to this Friday's show?

    When did you receive the kidney?

    Hey Jamheads,
    Just wanted to thank you all for reading my post. After all I do realize that times are tough lately. I know I have been out on Medical Leave from my job as a Registered Nurse since June 14th,2007. I know how every dollar counts!!!
    Just wanted to let you know that any amount would be helpful!!! I have been hitting the streets, going to local businesses near where I live. I would say that my hard work is paying off. My total raised as of today is $1279.00 between some of you nice people on the MessagBoard and Everyone Here in New York and all across the United States. All I ask is that you spread my message of hope to all your friends and family regarding Kidney Disease and The Importance of Organ Donation!!!

    Bump for a fantastic cause. If you haven't donated, you really should. Giving life is a fantastic thing.

    Edit: wayne, I just sent you the final $21 you need to meet your $1,500 goal. It was at $1479, and now you are all set. Congrats and your sister is did a great and noble thing. People who have never been in this situation really dont understand the magnitude of these decisions and the joy that comes from them.
