Makes me think of a blessing and curse of Andy Wood's suicide..cause there would be no Pearl Jam if not for his OD.

Kurt is #1 for the same reason Hendrix is #1 on guitar player lists.
Dead.
No chance to start to suck.
I agree with the Kurt comment, but Hendrix would have always been #1. That's obvious. He was on a different planet.

Weiland ahead of Staley is just stupid. First thing I thought of too. And any list that involves grunge or early 90's music is going to have cobain/nirvana at the top, just the way it is, they influenced so much that sometime they get credit for being things they never claimed to be. Like Kurt Cobain being so high on Rolling Stones top guitarist list when Cobain himself had said many times that he wasn't a great guitar player.
the list is for "best" not "defining" and Kurt is no fucking way a better singer than ED!!!!!
I know we all love eddie here, I have to say though when it comes to "grunge" music Kurt has the better "grunge" voice than Eddie Vedder. Doesn't make Eddie less of a man or anything.
What I want to know is how on earth did Neil Young make it onto a list of any type of great singer at all? That is just silly.
Another measure for me is, whose voice has been most emulated over the years? Layne's. Hands down-that's who everyone copies-Eddie says it, Henry Rollins says it, and I say it. So it must be true.
Although-Kurt's voice is the kind that no one would attempt to try and mimic. Except Courtney, of course.
Women that I think deserved some recognition here are Shirley Manson and Dolores O'Riordan.

bullshit that kurt and ed beat out chris (even if he is a cunt now)... and scott over layne?! rossdale and love made the list?!? lanegan should be ahead of both those ass clowns
Let's just get rid of Ed because of Avocado while we're at it.
Ouch...I think Avocado is the weakest PJ record, but have you heard the shit that Cornell has just put out?? It makes Creed albums seem like the greatest albums of all time.

Couldn't agree more about Gavin Rossdale (WTF?!) and Courtney Love, although I was more shocked that Mark Lanegan was 8th! Are they all deaf?! And stupid?!
Actually it enraged me most of all that Love's (lack of) mothering skills were mentioned. No one goes on about the parenting skills of male rockstars but this is clearly of utmost importance to the rest of the world if you're a woman. GRRRRRRRRR! Ok, feminist rant over.....for now
the fact Layne the greatest Grunge, my life is shit, mope singer of all time is behind Scott Weiland says how shitty this list is.
I love Ed but Curt will always be the defining voice of the "grunge" scene
Agreed.
