Wow, that is so cool. A must have for any Beatles fanatic. Great story behind the record as well, especially because the first four copies went to the band. It will be interesting to see what the rarest record goes for.

I was gonna put my maximum bid of £25,001 in when i saw the postage was £20!!!! fuck that... no way would i pay that for postage... does it come in a lead casket?
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Like 40 bucks CDN? To ship something that rare? Yeah, forget that. I need that item sent to me by jet plane, with security guards, and riffles.

I think the #5 is about the only difference. I hope the sleeve wasn't made by the dude making the fake Ten Basketball LPs

My uncle is a huge Beatles collector, I sent him the link and he said this:
besides the historical significance of it, the condition (as described in the ebay ad) is flawless! plus the fact that it's MONO...the mix on this is totally different on many of the tracks, and a first pressing (which this obviously is) would be the closest thing to the master tapes (sound/fidelity-wise), without actually tapping those master tapes! so besides being a sound investment, it is a bootleggers dream!

well the significance of the #5 is quite clear from the original ebay listing... numbers 1-4 were normally given to The Beatles themselves... so No.5 will be the lowest numbered copy that is available to other people... so basically paul, george, john and ringo have the first 4 and if you bought this it'd be number 5... it says all that in the original ebay listing, or didnt you read it?

yes, i read it, but thanks for re-writing it for me....

the part that im trying to ask about is the rarest record reference. number 5 is no more rare than number 0477137 (the one from the link i posted). i understand the significance of number 5...but to pay that much for one number and barely $200 for another number of the same lp seems off..i get it, its like youre the fifth beatle...

its like with the benny lps. 2000 were made. #11 is equally as rare as #1999...there is only one with that number out of 2000.

    MONO is a good point...

If you don't have the CD then you need to get it. One of the best albums of all time.

People are into numbers and many numbers have signifigance for different reasons. White Album No. 0001968 may sell for more because it matches the release year. I'm sure Benny Hall No. 10 would sell for more than one with a higher number.

i disagree... no5 would make it the lowest numbered copy in CIRCULATION... no. 0477137 just doesnt have the same clout, the same history... it was probably bought in a shop... no5 will have a history to it (i.e. John Lennon himself had it in his home, and gave it to a fellow musician... he might have even played it, touched it, rolled a joint on it, etc ;) )

of course there is only 1 no.5 and 1 no.0477137... but no.5 is rarer.. as the price shows.
