I just want to take the time to personally address the asshole from Toronto Night 2 that shouted out that horrible comment to EJ as she took the stage for the 1st encore on Wednesday evenings show.

Dear Frat boy:

You're remarks to Miss Eliza Jane Barnes at Wednesday’s concert at Massey Hall put an embarrassing stain on an otherwise beautiful and memorable evening.

You are very lucky that the comments hurled from your crackly, pre-pubescent, and annoying voice did not make it to the stage or reach the ears of either Eliza Jane Barnes or Eddie Vedder. As I’m sure if they had; you would have been rightfully thrown out of the building, or beaten within an inch of your shameful and pathetic life.

Your obvious lack of respect for the performers on stage, as well as your obvious lack of respect for women in general is an embarrassment to not only Toronto audiences, but Pearl Jam faithful as well.

You Sir are the poorest representation that the Human Race has to offer. You feed from the toilet like a dog and you are the very epitome of human swine.

May you live the rest of your days alone with your small pecker and a blistered hand.

May you never know the grace of a Female’s love.

I hope for the sake of all humanity, that you did the world a favor Wednesday evening and choked on your own vomit.

Every breath taken away from you is gift to us all.

Gonzo.

Perhaps a little harsh at the end, but I heard about that and I agree that's terrible. Are you sure Eddie and EJ didn't hear? I'm sure Eddie wouldn't react because he wouldn't want to embarrass EJ or draw any more attention to it, and I doubt she would have reacted either.
But yeah, what an asshole. :(

Yeah, what was said? I was there and I didn't hear anything about E.J. I do remember Ed saying to some guy as E.J. sat down, something like "have a little respect (or watch your language or something like that), there is a lady on stage".

I've positive that they didn't hear anything. Lucklily for everyone, this asshole's timing was very bad.

He yelled it out as some other idiot in the crowd was getting reprimanded for shouting out requests while Eddie was introducing EJ.

Everyone else was saying "Shut the Fuck Up" to the other guys as the comment was made...And Eddie was telling them "To watch their language as a women was on stage".

It was right around that time that this idiot yelled out:

    "EJ I wanna bang you"!!

I'd like to add here that it is also embarrassing to be in the same gender and species.

I cannot stand all of the pointless yelling of stupid things at concerts, especially at smaller venues like this one. However, I think you might need to just let this go. It was just a heckler. It is not like he caused harm to anyone. It is hard to believe that you let things like this bother you so much.

If it was "I wanna bang you", that's what you're upset about? Jesus. I hope that wasn't it because I don't know how you can function in life if a comment like this bothered you and has festered for this long to go as far to post about it.

"I wanna bang you" sounds like a compliment to me.

I've heard waaaaaaaay worse shit yelled at females during concerts. This is pretty tame.

It is annoying to have someone yell that out but it's more a complement to EJ than a diss, you really should chill out and find something better to worry about.

He said: 'EJ I'd bang you'. I wasn't too far from where that person was sitting. Ed did hear it and said 'remember there is a woman on stage'.

What's funny to me as a female, about this, is that guy probably thought he was making a complement. I don't know any woman who would think a man saying that to her would be a complement. Some guys don't really understand women. Bang is a rather violent word to use.

sadly, EV's solo tour has confirmed one thing in my mind ...

Somewhere between 5 - 10% of Pearl Jam fans are complete douchebags.

Sadly, they are the (very) vocal minority ... making it seem the majority of us are that way, which is so far from the truth.

I sat two seats down from this guy. The comment was "ELIZA!!! I WOULD BANG YOU!!!"

He was a knob for most of the night. When Eddie brought out the uke he screamed out "SOON FORGET!!!!!!" as a request. Then when Eddie played it two songs later (which was clearly his intention), this guy lost his mind because "I TOTALLY REQUESTED THAT!!! HOLY SHIT!!!"

    Ugh.

"I wanna bang you?" Is that it? Jesus, you're getting worked up about that?

But I guess the "popsicle up your ass" or whatever comments made by Vedder are still fair game though, right?

When it involves a real shitty band...I'd say fair game, maybe even too nice

people need to calm down. Who cares if someone yells something. You are never going to stop it from happening. Be glad you are seeing one of your favorite artists, and complain about things that matter.......like the color of Ed's pants.

    or stay home.

The demand for tickets is so high to these EV shows. When I find out the frat assholes are yelling stupid and offending comments (especially at women), I get angry that they got seats in the first place.

I have an idea for EV's next solo tour...

You must pass a PJ IQ test in order to obtain a ticket. Most true PJ fans are intelligent, classy, polite, and respectful towards men and women. This dude would have failed the test and been denied entrance.
David Letterman's show does something VERY similar, and it works. It's not tough. One time I was asked the name of the stage manager (Biff) and another time I was asked who Rupert Gee was (deli guy next door). It's fair and it guarantees that REAL fans get in.

Yeah...I guess I should let it go right?...no big deal...right?

    It's not hurting anyone...

I'm guess Your Sister, Your Mother, Your Wife, Your Girlfriend, Daughter, whatever should just continue to accept this sort of behaviour from us men.

They should just get used to it right?

    Do you agree?

    Cause I don't.

Maybe it's because My Wife and I got a chance to have a really cool conversation with Liam, EJ, and their tour manager Sam for a little while before the show...They're all really cool people; especially EJ...It was a great conversation, and something I won't soon forget.

Kind of felt like a friend was getting insulted up there.

    But
Maybe I'm just being to sensitive...

    Sorry.

Nobody's worked up - its a simple discussion. The point being made by some is that guy's comment was seriously disrespectful to a woman. Ed would not speak to a woman like that I'm pretty sure. (Would you like someone to say it to your mother or sister?) The popsicle thing was quite different - another band's sound is pretty much fair game. Its not so much the language being used, but the way it was used and who it was directed to.
