*edit .. so far .. can't find around the 90 on any of the links that give it 90 bucks a night. keep get over 120 a night. d'oh! :(
need to find a hotel this week. any ideas/help etc.. and at a good cost per night .. would be great!
Check out the Best Western on Drummond. That's where we are staying. We've stayed there 3 or 4 times and have never had a problem with the place. Not a five star hotel, but it is decent and the price is fair.

bringing the wishlist foundation stuff to & from the place isn't bad.
Grumpy's is quite far from PDA (the venue)...I would suggest you try another place. "Foufounes electriques" (e.g., "the electric ass") is 2 floor showbar and is 4-5 blocks away from PDA. While not a very classy place, it holds a lot of history in terms of music in montreal, AND beer is 1$ on saturday nights before midnight!
I'm pretty sure I've been to that place kiwisegg. It was interesting, I liked it.

Just a cautionary tale: Book hotels ASAP. Montreal in the summer is a busy, busy place. Last time I stayed overnight, one of the coworkers I was with hadn't told us she doesn't drink, and tried to keep up to us... She ended up puking big time, and getting bounced from the club. We hadn't found a place yet, and so my housemate ran her ass off to the nearest hotel and proceeded to get into a bidding war with a few people over the last available room - which happened to be a suite. Now, this was right downtown, but don't want anyone to get screwed!

How far is the Best Western from the venue, do you know, Vart? I gotta secure my reservations.
still on the hunt for beneficiary & the pub to have the 2 preparties. d'oh! anybody in the area know of any that is close to the Salle WIlfrid-Pelletier? know there's Grumpy's that was '05's preparty. is there anything closer?

(check the map, it's a drive for 4 minutes; if you walked it, instead of following the arrows, it would be less then a 2 minute walk)
what do you guy's think? should we book here? if it's a 1 dollar drinks saturday night, and we could get a tribute pearl jam band play, will be a wicked night .. too!
remember those random freebie dvds i gave out at the tables? well, will be posting something sweet later night; before or after .. or between the vh1 who broadcast. stay tuned!
My wife and I are coming up from Rochester, New York for night 1.

i'm cool with the bar choice, looks nice and close. as for the beneficiary, this site lists 87 canadian non-profit orgs that are based in montreal. there's some good causes there, so the hard part might be choosing which is most appropriate:
(if the link doesn't work it's just http://www.idealist.org then search montreal then select non-profit)

I'll most likely be staying there as well, best deal I can find as well.
I received my college tuition loan statement today, I only have about a grand left to payoff. This PJ/EV tour thing has delayed it a bit lately but it's all worth it. Never felt so happy being broken in my life before.

I dont think there are any shows on the weekend of the EV show, but bands to have played at the FOUFS (before they had commercial success)...
Mudhoney
Nirvana
Primus
Pixies
N.I.N.
The Melvins
Helmet
Offspring
Anyhow, that's probably where I will end up.
I Hope you all enjoy your stay in Montreal.
Pat.

this would be a great place to do it. 2 floors, killer bands that have performed at this place & it's so close to the pda:
