They have various types of forums to post your work. I like the critique one.
WHen you go there, click the message that says "view the forum in frames"...after you do, you'll se a list of all the forum types she offers.
The site is legit..I began using it back in the mid '90's.
That site makes my blood run cold, I have to say. I'll never join. I could never figure out what business people without postgraduate degree level training in literary criticism have criticising other peoples' work. They haven't the theoretical methodologies to apply the criticism. They should forget about it. There used to be a sign over Plato's philosophical Academy in Greece, "Let no man ignorant of geometry enter here", and I think I would say, "If you haven't studied literary theory to an advanced level, you're not equipped to criticise". If people stuck by this noble principle we wouldn't - for example - have seen all those poor quality music journalists harass the great Pearl Jam on such specious grounds, back in the early 1990s.

welll, i could tell you who the culprit is

truthfully, though... he'll just find other names
eventually i'd just find him funny, and
redundant
jessie is not going to stand for juvenile threats, but,
oh! if you'd like to know, i like to type poetry in code
especially up and down..
weee! god i love doing that.
i remember that dude.. some kind of self appointed research therapist somethin or other .. oh well..
thank you for posting your poetry young lady.. you have a talent and your fellow jammers like to read great poems
Down the street you can hear her scream youre a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

Oh, I know who you're talking about now. Some of us formulated the opinion "he" was an alter ego of one of our more delusional contributors to the forum.
there's no use guessing who it is.....and slandering people by implication.....I hate gossip.....just name and shame.....have it out.....anyway....it's a lot of fuss about nothing.....
....they're asking me to prove why I should be allowed to stay with my baby in Australia, because I'm mentally ill......and they think I should leave......

Jessie says who it is if you read her above post as an acrostic.
I have no idea....but frankly I'm getting sick of all the whispering and nudging and winking.....sounds like bullying to me.....Jessie seems well-able to handle herself......this thread has been nothing but a disingenuous attempt to get flattery......I'll be well-pleased when the saccharine honey stops dropping

No offence to anyone, but this thread's not going anywhere anymore. Let's either let it fall or ask for it to be deleted, otherwise people will use it as a thread in which to squabble. And this forum is pretty positive, most of the time.

Your entire response begs for the question as to why anyone would post their work to begin with. I won't answer the why's, but will say the critique board is a nice place to post when a word or phrase escapes you while trying to express your thought.
Also, they don't ONLY have a critique board. The main page is just to post your work, no critique. There are several other forums also, depending on what genre your work falls under.
Lastly, you don't have to "join".
But, hey, you can post where you want. I would just wonder why?
My response does not beg the question of why people would want to post online if they don't want critical feedback. My response suggests that online crits don't usually work because the overwhelming majority of people doing the crits don't know their anaphora from their anagnorisis. Also, many people post and don't want "critical responses". They just want to express themselves. I know many writers like that. They just want to share their work with online friends, knowing the people for whom they're writing. I have in the "real" world published writers among my friends who leave it to the professionals who know what they're talking about when they want feedback. I know people who say if they want a crit on a piece of work, they'll ask an academic rather than another amateur or professional writer, because it's usually academically trained critics who work as editors in publishing offices and get works presentable for print.
Also, people post for fun, for the joy of the process of self exploration and for a vast number of different reasons; they're not always writing, seeking product-oriented advice, with an eye to publication.
If people are stuck for a word for a poem, they can always look at a thesaurus. Many enjoy posting on boards such as this and even smaller ones, just for the sheer fun of it and are put off by the bigger boards with so many strangely conceived sub-generic "rooms".

To Jessie,
Hey, you know how much people on here (esp. me ) love reading you'e work, so i'm glad you're deciding to continue to post. We all look forward to reading you're stuff in the future-It'd be such a shame to see a great poet like yourself get bullied off this board by "faceless men-well fuckers."
To all the great people on ths board,
Can we not just let this thread drop down now please? I don't think it's fair on Jessie and everyone else, that the fuckers who are sending the PM's get all this attention they're receiving.
Situations get fucked up and turned around sooner or later...
Originally posted by of_the_girl I keep getting fucked up, creepy as hell PMs from people I've never seen before telling me that my poems are disturbing and that I need to cut off all communications with my 'internet lover' .
Who are these people?? And what the hell do they know about me?? It scares me. And it all started from some poetry I wrote...
so now I never want to post here again.
i say fuck them and write your poetry.....its probably a good release for you.....and dont ever lose that release....or else you might snap.....
i wish i had a release....
Seems that needlessly it's getting harder

You know you got a lot of people supporting you my dear, and we know you inside and out. I know for one, you are a good person who gives a lot of love and recieves it too:D
your poetry gives me strength, and it seems, each time you write something new, you always touch my heart. keep them coming my dear b/c your poetry is just as sweet as you:)

Do not quit. Put the people you don't like on ignore and delete thier PMs unread. In an open forum, there will be creeps, don't let them change you. Keep up with your expression. MOM

Don't stop posting because of them. You have the power and talent and something of which they're jealous.
Pasta asked me to see some of her poems on your board and I did enjoy visiting it occasionally. I didn't expect to see you criticising me there. Anyway, your board is public, and poetry lovers should be welcome to read as they are welcome to read on mine. I respectfully would not join the board though.
Be reasonable. Be considerate. Be polite and be adult.

Don't ever let anyone tell you how to be or what to think. your poetry is beautiful and it's nobody's business where it comes from or what kind of mind you have. when a poem is read, it shouldn't be interpreted into what the person that wrote it was thinking, it should be interpreted into what you think it means and what it means to you. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CRITICISM IN POETRY!!! if people don't know how to, then they shouldn't even bother reading it!! keep up the good work!
