ok, now I see what you mean. The drums at the end of hail, hail sound a bit like under pressure.

props to whoever mentione the solemn man part of evacuation , one of the bands best moments, the solo after were upside down line in CROPDUSTER is good too. Also, the rival break someone mentioned is up with the bands best moments imo. master slave, the middle part of the original brother and aye divinita are gems too. many are contained in im open, musically

One of many: in the instrumental part of Immortality, the way it builds up and up and then when it reaches a peak, seems to come down the other side and kind of skid to a halt before going back to soft and quiet.

One that occurred to me as I was talking to my wife about this thread last night...

I adore the following two from Riot Act:

Ed wailing at the end of 1/2 Full... matches up with Arc afterwards... gets me pumped up for it.

The opening riffs to All or None. I repeat that song just to hear them again.

I have little love for DTE, but the 'admire me, admire my home ' parts after the little stone lick is great! Definately a gem!

The beginning 'of the girl' it's so intense and I always want to smoke a cigarette.

I just love Of the Girl! The whole song is a gem!

Watch. It does the movie justice I think!

That breakdown has a *gorgeous* example of what you described, and was actually probably the thing that made fall in mad, unbridled, lusty, dirty, shameful monkeylove with this song live.
now THAT is the way to describe PORCH love!!!!!

Mike's 2nd solo on the Studio version of "Immortality" kicks my ass everytime.

Mike's got such great tone and feel on that one...

I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar solos, and that solo is one of my favorite guitar solos ever.

took the words out of my mouth

Ive never seen this mentioned on a thread here, but i love the delivery / line in BUGS where Ed says "standing, sitting, kneeling...a few block the door!" ...and his 2nd vocal (wailing) behind the lyrics too....i fucking love it!

    the bridge in Alone

the break in the middle of You Are, just as only the rhythm guitar plays...

Ed's whole delivery on Im Still Here is exceptional >> "I swear..i died...inside..that night"

the noisy end of Parting Ways

    the solos in Light Years

The bridge in Black Red Yellow!!

    all SO good....

    There are so many!!!
I stop and think...and another one keeps popping in my mind.

    "Parting Ways"

The way Eddie sings the "Driftin' Away" during the outro.

Also love that HEAVY distorted chord "crash" Eddie does after " And there's a fear they'll soon be parting ways".

    Just awesome.
  • The blistering outtro on the studio Habit. It completely makes up for a mediocre song. I love the guitars in that.

I love the way they did the outro live on the 2000 European tour...It was just so heavy...Someone must of been listening to alot of Black Sabbath or Kyuss on that tour because that outro is right out of heavy metal stoner rock playbook.

The way they extended the guitars jamming together at the end of Hard To Imagine in some of these '08 shows was beautiful...

And I've always had to crank up the stereo during that part of Hail Hail, right after Ed says "...bandaged hand in hand..." then the guitars just slam in
I was alone and far away when I heard the band start playing!

...I was always a DeadHead, but when I first heard Winston Rodney, aka the Burning Spear, sing, I became a SpearHead too!
