  • Don't believe it till they announce it. Zeppelin was rumored at this time last year.

    I would love it.

Missed the Dead at my first Roo in 04 because I didn't pace myself and passed out (lesson since learned).

And Phish... the festival is made for them. It seems there is a strong divide between fans who want them there and fans who don't, which I don't get. But whatever- I fucking want them there and hope that they do play it.

phish....i don't see it happening, but I could be wrong.

    Haha Classic stuff.....
  • It makes me think I won't be making a return trip. But I wouldn't give much credence to the rumors at this time.

I'm hoping for the Boss...but I figure that is unlikely. Rolling Stone is reporting that he will have a new album early next year though

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
  • I'm thinking that I've never been less tempted to go to concert in my entire life.

I doubt Phish will be there but the Dead is looking to be more likely. I really hope that the new Led Zeppelin doesn't show up. I was really hoping for them this year but without Plant it's not Zeppelin.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Yeah, it was embarassing. Enjoyed the green a little too much that day. I was just so excited to be there, you know? Overdid it quite a bit.

They played Shine On You Crazy Diamond, too. That would have been awesome to see.
  • well, if those two bands are playing, im for sure goin down. unless, of course, phish comes here (minny)

i wouldn't go for that. unless the third headliner was a rock act then i'd consider but that's too much jam band time for my liking.

being our first 'Roo and thoroughly enjoying ourselves, my buddy and i were talking about going next year...

however, if this rumor came true....i would not waste my money and time.

    Esther's here and she's sick?

Am I the only one that truly dislikes jam bands? Even if they are great guitarists, 10 minute solos are not neccessary- IMO.

if i was a betting man, i would bet a lot of money that bruce springsteen will not be at roo. i would definitely not get my hopes up for that because its simply not going to happen.

that'd be nice to see, but i'm not making that trek. 'roo is a great festival, but just too big for me. i'll stick with my moe.down every labor day weekend, just an hour away from home.

i love replies like this. first, i believe that if you were at a pearl jam concert and mike started shredding for 15-20 minutes you'd be loving every minute of it. you'll probably say "no, i'd get sick of it after a few minutes" but i won't believe you. second, you say you don't like jam bands...and that's great. just one less person taking up space at a show i'll be at in the future.

  • For the guy that doesn't like jam bands... go to a Disco Biscuits concert. Holy shit. It's mesmerizing... you just fucking dance and have a great fucking time.
If I could, think I would give in.

I'm gone ..Long gone..This time I'm letting go of it all...So long...Cause this time I'm gone
  • Phish sounds interesting.

When I went to the States I admitted I don't know who Phish or Grateful Dead were to surprised people. Until one man said that he been to the UK and he was shocked to hear not many people knew the Dead.
I saw Cracker live and was asking about their cover LOSER. I was surprised to hear that was originally by the Dead.

Good home looked them up on the net. Saw Youtube and am now a confirmed fan 12 years after the death of Garcia.
Phish too I discovered on Youtube. Thank God for these sites or else I still be confused over most of these bands mentioned on this site.

hmmm...I don't like jam bands AND I don't like McCready's live extensions of many songs like Porch, Even Flow, etc. Believe me or not, but it's the troof :p

ya, it's not for everybody....personally, for me, a good jam is the best part of a song, especially where it is all improvised, I'm still amazed how talented you have to be to create that music on the fly and rarely miss a beat/note

If you're creating it on-the-fly, how can you miss a beat/note?

you got me on that one.....but you get the idea. To create some incredible music on the fly, with all band members talking to each other through music and following each others leads.

    lol, i don't believe you.

    j/k

ok, i believe you but i just think you're missing out on some amazing music from a huge ammount of bands.

I'm hoping Beck turns out another record pretty quick this time around. Maybe before the summer. He is still playing shows now though so I don't see him doing much touring next year unless he has a brand new record to promote.

Hope he gets his old bandmates back too:(

Note: i don't plan on going to the Roo either way but Phish wouldn't deter me one bit

I could see Phish making an appearance. Other than that who knows, they have been changing things up so much its hard to predict. Probably Kings of Leon since they weren't there last year and just released the new album, TV on the Radio, Foo fighters, or maybe the Killers.

yeah, i haven't missed a moe.down yet. it's the only time during the summer that i know exactly where i'll be and for how long. i took my oldest son with me the last 2 years. he's got one more year of being under the age for needing a ticket.

and yeah, i'm surprised they have dates scheduled already, too. i figured they wouldn't start touring again until around late spring/early summer of '09. but it does say on their home page that those 5 dates that are listed will be the only dates for the winter tour. i'm really hoping for a full on spring tour, going into a summer tour, with plenty of northeast dates.

next saturday (11/15) i'm going to the lost horizon in syracuse to see al and the transamericans. should be fun. gotta get some kind of moe. fix until the touring really amps up again.
