  • The only song by Muse that I had heard is Newborn from the High Tension soundtrack. Then I saw them at Lolla last year and was BLOWN AWAY! Immediately got all their music.

My favorite song is either Space Dementia or Hyper Cuts.

On a side note: I was watching 12 Monkeys the other day and saw a few Muse posters in the background.

I gotta throw Citizen Erased out there, that song is amazing. From the awesome guitar riffs to the piano outro, I fucking love it!

And here's a particularly cool version:

Hyper Music. I didn't have my iPod close at hand and could not remember the names. Thanks for clearing it up.

    Yes, big fan here

Was into them a few years ago and was telling anyone who would listen about them. I got a lot of " They sound too much like Radiohead " stuff, and they got dismissed

Problem is, Bellamy's voice does sound like Yorke's

The music really is different, but what can you do?

    Anyways , they're great

    Never seen em' live though
    I'll keep taking punches
    Untill their will grows tired

Apparently the leaked song was only a demo, and Mike Skinner has pulled the plug on the whole project. And yeah I absolutely agree, he was nowhere near angry enough to fit that music!
  • Muse is my 2nd favorite band...has been since 1999.

same here.. on them coming back to the states anyway. i saw them at lolla last year, but from what i hear, it was a pale shadow of what they're capable of. they seemed to have a lot of equipment problems and i dont think their singer/guitarist moved all night. he certainly didnt say a word to the crowd. the drummer said thanks twice. i've never seen a band look so unhappy to be playing a show.
    and like that... he's gone.

Are there any fans of Muse on the board? I absolutely love them..seen them quite a few times since the late 90's. Wonder if the US will ever truely catch on. The last time I saw them they sold out MSG..hopefully thats a sign of more success to come.

Absolutely adore Muse! Saw them at a festival a couple of years ago............ pouring down with rain, it was! But I didn't care. I was completely captivated.

Whenever I've asked someone how Muse is live, they've said 'The light show is intense'.

Make of that what you will.

    "and what of the songs...?"

i really like Muse.. much better than metal shite, put it that way.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

hmm.. i have no problem with MUSE live. sure the light show is great. in fact last time i saw them they used galaga graphics and i just about flew i was so excited(its a thing from the 80s with me). the only song of theirs i take issue with is knights of cydonia and thats cause to my ears its big giant wank. :p:D
there are some bands who put on a show and there are some bands who dont. MUSE is one of those bands who imo put on a show.

  • I'm not normally a negative poster, but Muse rile me a little, not because of the music but because of some of the nonsense the singer Matt Somethingorother spouts. Thus, I never have and never intend to give them a chance.

    I quote:

"My ultimate New Years Day hangover cure is sitting naked on a hard wooden chair in an empty room"

"We just want to destroy the world".

He's just so art college teenage angst... and a bit of a plonker as far as I can tell.
we're all going to the same place...
  • Didn't like their earlier music - I thought Matt had some form of asthma. All that gasping for air....

Then came Black Holes - to me that is a masterpiece. It's so incredible that even after a year I'm continuously listening to it. I just love the way they combine classical music with symphonic, pop and progressive.

Looking forward to 2009's release. If it's like Black Holes I'm entranced.
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun - W.H. Auden
  • I'll give that a try.

My personal vote for best British band of recent years is The Doves, Some Cities is one of those few albums that I'd count as a modern classic.
we're all going to the same place...

Saw them twice in a small theater in Buenos Aires this year, they were amazing. Although they didn´t play Citizen Erased.
