For a long time, it was Sarah McLachlan's entire album "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy." I am way beyond that point in my life and can listen to the album, but I don't listen to it much anymore.
We are the facilitators of our own creative evolution.--Bill Hicks
When a person very very special to me and I were on the outs there were several that really bothered me when I listened to them. Ben Harper's 'Walk Away' was the toughest one there for a while....we made up though!
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

Oh boy, Twilight and Angeles make me want to kill myself these days :(
i almost tried to kill myself to twilight once. if that song isn't the most heartbreakingly hopeless tune of all time, i don't know what is. i went through a period of listening to that and nin 'hurt' endlessly. had nothing to do with a girl or a breakup, but i was pretty fucked up at the time nonetheless
now i listen to some gangsta hip hop and turn that self-loathing outward at all you stupid motherfuckers that are annoying me!
I got the Shuffle on this morning on my commute (6000 plus songs) and up comes a song that immediately causes a spine tingle and not in a good way.
In you eyes by Peter Gabriel. My Wedding Song from my 1st marriage.
Immediately hit the skip button and will be deleting from IPOD at home tonight.
So what are your unlistenable songs due to too many bad/sad memories that you still (after 15 years for me) need to skip.
wow.
was it an acrimonious divorce?
i hope i never get divorced...but if it were to happen, i would hope it would be amicable....b/c i just don't want to imagine NOT being able to listen to our wedding song you're the best thing - the style council......and missing out on the beauty. i'd think sure, it would be bittersweet....but i wqould hope i could focus on the positives. so no...i thankfully have ZERO songs that i cannot listen to due to a bad break-up. outside of my husband i really never tied any specific music to other people. anyhoo....i am sorry to read that black diamond....NO peter gabriel song should be cut from a playlist!
Oh man I hate to admit this but my "song" with my first true love was.....lol Brian Adams "Everything I do, I do it for you" LMAO! How gay!
She always pops into my head if I hear it.
i grew up on soft rock like bryan adams, so i've always had something of a soft spot for him, but that is definitely lame

Shit, that sucks man. It's definitely a ridiculously sad song. "I'm tired of being down, I've got no fight" is altogether too bleak for me these days. Don't really have any time for stuff like that at the moment. I'm happy and don't listen to it because it reminds me of a time when I wasn't.
I listen to a lot of hip-hop too but the angry shit is good for when I'm angry, rather than down
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
for me I can't listen to the entire Happiness is Not A Fish that you can Catch album, by Our Lady Peace. Which is terrible b/c it's a great record! D'oh!
And that damned Sinead song, Nothing Compares 2U. UGH!

Rilo Kiley has a song that pretty much hit it on the head for me. This verse/chorus in 'A Man/Me/Then Jim':
'I was driving south of Melrose; I happened upon my old lover's old house.
I found myself staring at the closed up door, like the day she threw me out.
"Dianna, Dianna, Dianna I would die for you.
I'm in love with you completely, I'm afraid that's all I can do."
She said,
"You can sleep upon my doorstep, you can promise me indifference, Jim...
But, my mind is made up and I'll never let you in again."
For the slow fade of love
It might hit you from below.
It's your gradual descent
Into a life you never meant.
It's the slow fade of love.'
...
Except her name wasn't Dianna and my name is not Jim.

Shine on you Crazy Diamond. Not because it is emotionally challenging or anything but the bitch stole my CD!
haha, nice
I usually don't have this problem but this time around i've had three songs I just can't enjoy as much as I used to due to a girl. They're still favorites but I dont do it often
No Ones Gonna Love You More Than I Do - Band of Horses
Nude - Radiohead
Rosalie - Beck
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
as stereotypical as this sounds, Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. An ex-girlfriend of mine used to get me to play it on guitar for her all the time. It now has a taint. However, no song has ever gotten me laid as many times as that one
"please bleed" - ben harper
though this song actually helped me to deal w/ my breakup...i'd put it on repeat as i drove home from work...angrily crying and screaming and cursing the jerk's name.
i couldn't listen to the song for a couple years after w/out getting emotional. but, that was forever ago...i'm over it now
yes...i do feel like a human. i do not feel like a tree.
damn doors and the velvet underground had a 'taint' for a while. but then i got over the asshole. just if im having a bad day, i stay away from em, esp vu.
