songs that just dont fit the album its on.

i'll go first.
The Crunge on Zeps. Houses of the Holy. wtf? that record would be flawless without that song.
IMHO.

Exact first thing that came to my mind.
Tool has a bunch... first one that comes to mind is Ions on Aenema... what could have been!
Really? I always thought Oceans was a great opener but Deep should have been replaced with Brother.
it's a parody/homage to James Brown, but I think they took it seriously. I love this song, invented a dance for it too.
Oh, in case you wondered, it IS Plant that says near the end, "Where's that confounded bridge?".
Oceans is beautiful and fits perfectly.
or
bugs
the song is fine, just dont fit with the feel of the rest of the album.
i'd like to think my rhythm is pretty solid, been playing music since i was 5 lol

I LOVE the band, adore the song and think the album is perfect but Highly Suspicious just isn't like any other song on there!
I'm not saying that's a bad thing...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
Great song...just sticks out from the rest of the album.

I like it, but I can see your point. It might have fit better on III.
I don't really like them all, but I think they fit with it being a mostly "Ed" album.
Good call on it being a better Lost Dogs track. It's been said a million times, but how could "Sad" not have made that album?
My go to answer for this is always "Starfuckers, Inc." from NIN "The Fragile". It is such an atmospheric, mature album and this song really sticks out as not belonging. The most glaring example of a song not fitting I've ever seen.
uh....you kidding?
did you actually listen to the music of the song...it fucking rocks.
give it another listen.
I totally agree - he should have saved it for a b-side, I always skip it when it comes on.
Another one I truly hate is A Long December by Counting Crows. I know it's meant to be a crowd favourite and all, but to me it doesn't fit the vibe of the record at all.
Because it pisses on the rest of Sgt. Pepper from such great heights.....It's the only reason I have to ever spin that disc.....
You're right. They should have added it to Vs. I tried to think of a song to switch it with on Vs. and couldn't take a song off. What a record!
Yeah Starfuckers is an ok song, not great, but somewhat fun. It just doesn't go with that album AT ALL! He should have put "Home" or "The New Flesh" on there instead.
I agree with "A Long December" too.
Oh, yeah. It does change the vibe. At least it's buried near the end.
Meat is Murder on Meat is Murder. I guess I felt like a title track should be the organizing principle of an album, and this just doesn't do it.
Star Me Kitten on Automatic for the People. It would fit on some of the post-Hi-Fi REM albums though. Too shimmery, if that's a word.
