You know.... Timbaland is Cornells producer/puppet master, Timbaland happens to be black, so if you dont like "Scream" you obviously dont like Timbaland , who happens to be black. So if you dont like Timbaland or Scream but still kinda like Cornell, whos white, you obviously dont like blacks. So of course you are a racist then.

So what if you are black and you dont like "Scream" but you like Timabaland sort of and have never heard of Chris Cornell. Does that make you racist or bi-sexual?

What if you are white and you dont like blacks or mexicans but you like Timbaland , but think "Scream" sucks. And you dont like whites that much either, and could care less about Chris Cornell?

:) This is brilliant, i owe you one headache, but thats brilliant

Scream, Racism, Timbaland, a concert with ONLY Scream played at it......i was in a bad mood before i read this thread and now i cant stop chuckling to myself. RIP Chris Cornell, at least i had a cheap laugh at your expense, and am now glad that i illegally downloaded all your albums.

Wow you are too cool. Lets forget about all the masterpieces he made (more than 8 albums worth) and throw him out the window now that he's doing this one-off thing with Timbaland. So he wants to do something different... surely he's got the right to. I'm sure he'll go back to his roots after this album. And just to let you all know, I don't like these new songs that much either but I just hate how everyone is like "He is dead to me now" and throwing him under the bus. Grow up people...

Pfft. Chill out. I was kind of being ironic. Hes not dead to me, im glad i have all of his other stuff and i love it, and will continue to. Joe2revenge made the good point (to be fair) that Cornells touring band are great - if they were playing anything old on this tour id be there.

HOWEVER - if the artistic change in direction is for artistic reasons, or just for a change of pace - fine. Scream is not that. Thats what i think is causing people to claim Chris is dead for - not the album alone. Dont be so immature as to ignore the many reasons fans can be disappointed by this album, this tour, the collaboration, the marketing & overhyping. It just doesnt seem very Cornell to me, thats all.

Good work ripping me apart though - i think you'll find i described my own post as a "cheap laugh"

In my mind, Cornell has lost all artistic integrity and that does affect how I view him past/present/future. I honestly believe this whole thing was a sell out move from the get go to get exposure and make an attempt at being relevant after meager Carry On sales and a tour that couldn't pack small venues. So, integrity matters to me, a whole fuckin' lot, especially when it comes to an artist I have always admired.

So fine, you see it one way, but I don't think growing up has anything to do with it and seeing as how CC has chosen to market himself to teenagers, I'm not sure how growing up would help me appreciate his new music at all.

Very well put. Thats what i wanted to say, but was not articulate enough to write it.
  • 1. if you saw his live show you wouldn't say he sucks ass

    2. race has everything to do with it. what other fucking difference does it make who chris tours with? when it's a shitty band, no one says a thing. but all of a sudden there's a hip hop guy on the tour and people complain about it? why?

Um, but I have seen his live show

Joe2TheRevenge, I think it's racist you played the race card.

Took in cornell twice on the Carry On Tour, was great, but since you didnt seem to read the multiple times that people have said this tour is ONLY Scream - I would like to reitirate this is going to be nothing but a shell of his former live preformance. Oh well, there's always next album.
  • I'll just fondly hold on to my memories of seeing him as the frontman for Soundgarden oh, so many years ago here in Seattle.

I'm listening to "Never Far Away" and the outro consists of someone humming. It doesn't sound like Cornell (but it could be I guess) and sounds suspiciously like Justin Timberlake, although I don't really know his voice well.

Anyone care to confirm this? We already know that Timberlake is going to be on the album somewhere.

I think if it was with Kid Rock or Tim McGraw you'd hear an equal amount of bitching and moaning. Nothing to do with race. For the vast majority of us.

If there is one sound out there in the universe that I can guarantee you I won't recognize, it's Justin Timberlake humming...

    Sorry, no help here.

Hahahaha. That just made my day.

I hated the collab when I first heard about it and still do. But the more I think about it, if CC actually cared and did something on the album, it could have been very cool and interesting...something Everlastish but with more singing, which I would've totally enjoyed.

Also, joerevenge guy got massively owned.

    Hehe, majorly.
  • I enjoy a little Timberlake and Furtado now and then, but they fit the genre...it works for them. Cornell and pop hip-hop are like oil and water, nails on a chalkboard to me. He doesn't possess one cell of pop or hip-hop in his entire body, and it just doesn't work. But all of his choices and lifestyle changes lately are so shallow and cheesy, I don't think he's just "exploring" artistically. I think he's having a midlife crisis.

ETA: SO, midlife crisis isn't exactly an original observation, lol....seems to be the general consensus....so I'm a little slow, ok? ;-p

These are supposed to be "non-Verizon" dates, meaning that he won't be playing just Scream shite. I'll be at the Tucson show; if he plays less than two hours and more than four new songs ("Two Drink Minimum" certainly excluded), I may just rush the stage and smash a guitar over his head.

Reading over the revamped forum on the official site, I'm starting to get the feeling that maybe this album will (mercifully) never get released. Word has it that early next year is the soonest it would come out; if that's the case, I'm not alone in my opinion that that would be an foolish time, given how long the songs out presently have been available. Perhaps Timbaland's waiting for a song to "catch fire" as a single, to quote the forum dwellers -- but if not ... ?

Personally, I'm hoping (praying) that "Two Drink" is actually the first single for a more bluesy, R-and-B album Cornell cut completely in secret, and this Scream shit is just a well-thought-out smokescreen.

Thank goodness for these. I might make one of these shows. I think it may be a last shot at me "feeling" the music and I know that it can be.

He hasn't one cell of pop in his body? How about most of Down On the Upside, or all of Euphoria Morning. There are some really good pop tunes on there. Sunshower? Or maybe we just have a difference of opinion of whats considered pop
