I bought the boxed set... actually, 2 boxed sets. One for me and one for my friend.
    ...
Otherwise... I would have kicked in the 12 bucks I usually pay for a CD.

Ditto, except only one. I can afford it and wanted to support them in their experiment. :)

That's the article that made me start this thread. I want to see if there is the same percentage of people who paid $0 on this board.

I paid nothing. I don't feel bad about it because I wouldn't have bought the album if it was released in the normal way. The only Radiohead song I knew was "Creep". I actually like the album which might make me buy more of their stuff in the future.

  • I paid nothing and I'm glad I did because so far for me it's nothing great.
  • Paid nothing... don't like the album. I'll probably delete it now too. It's a very literal "nothing ventured, nothing gained" situation.

That's what I paid too. Figured (a) i'll buy the disc if it has the extra tracks, and (b) it's around what they would have made off each sale if they were still under contract.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

  • I paid $0.00. But I will buy the official disc when it comes out in the stores. We just bought our first home and my husband said not to buy or spend anything. So I figured these guys have 8 houses in 4 different countries they can slide me an album once in a while. It is on my Christmas list however. I can't wait to see the art work.

Considering the price of CD's and the gross size of profits made by both bands and record companies (and I know in this case the record company is not an issue because of the albums independence) I don't see how they can be called cheap asses, in fact it seems like a statement of materialistic greed that Radioheads move seems to be designed to undermine. Just a thought.

  • I paid nothing. I had a friend sending it to me.
    I had a plan:
If I didn't like it, I'd go to the site and pay them their 20 €, as that's about what I usually have to pay for a CD here.
But, as I've deeply fallen in love with the album, I'm gonna get the discbox for Christmas.

I don't understadn people paying more that 10 € fo the download.
I mean, even if a cd here in Belgium is often around 17 €, only a part of taht is for the artist. With their download, Radiohead gets 100% of what you pay.
They're rich, they have plenty of money and we are not rich.
So, why paying $20 (or $80 ! as some of you did)...? I don't get it

  • Discbox....otherwise would have paid ~$10.

Dunno, for me it would have been a normal thing. I'd pay 20 €, often even more in a store here in Austria (if they have the CD that is).
With this one I at least know that all of it (well, most of it anyways) goes to the artist. I respect them, and I support them, and that'd have been my way to show it. (No, I'm not saying that people who paid nothing don't respect them at all.) I'm not rich, they are. Though, for me it'd have been as a matter of principle.
