I don't think you meant this to be offensive but these comments get old.

I live in the south and i do so because i make my living here. not everyone is like the ignorant folks that get portrayed in this area. Particularly in Atlanta you find many folks who did not support bush, have traveled to various parts of the world and are open minded etc etc

It is frustrating if a band or artist actually does not play a part of the country because they assume everyone is the same as a generalzation.

the day over 90% of your countrymen realise that the US and England didnt win World War II is the day i'll stop ;)
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Good post...northern and foreign arrogance/ignorance towards the south (and middle America) is beyond retarded.

His last two experiences in Atlanta were pretty bad.

On the greendale tour he had to stop in the middle of Bandit due to the crowd yelling at him to play his old songs. He was clearly irate about this.

then on the CSNY Freedom tour i heard things went pretty bad with some of his anti bush comments. I think it is actually detailed on the new Documentary but i have not had a chance to see it yet.

Either way it sucks seeing Neil and Wilco woudl be great.

Yeah I'd love to see them both. Especially electric. I don't really get the hostility at most of the concerts these days.... I mean. They paid a ton of money to come see this guy aparently they are or were a fan of yet they don't seem to know about the guys Politics? What? Did they miss understand "Ohio"?

The play your old stuff guy is as bad as "play some skynard" guy. You could buy a greatest hits album and sit in the parking lot if you want that.

Even at the PJ shows I've been too the booing about that stuff has been sporadic maybe 40 drunk people out of 10000 people or so who are just yelling, I mean those people were at VFC too.

Ultimately you pays your money and you takes your chances... I wanted to hear The Who play drowned when they were here but it's not like it's on everyones list. I understand not particularly likeing a show afterward I've had that experience with Widespread Panic but I'm definately enjoying the show when I'm there.

At the same time, I paid 100 bucks to see the who and that was rare, and way below face.

Maybe it is money, because I sure as hell am not paying 50 face plus 35 or so in fees to see most acts that come through here, Hell you can get decent enough if not great music for less than 20 bucks all over the place, why stress over the long trek to Lakewood?

It's true...touring the south is just not as profitable for whatever reasons. Many bands skimp on the south lately. Pearl Jam did, Tool did, etc.

    Follow the money, folks.

I would think with all their anti-greed talk, Pearl Jam would be above turning down playing fans because one region clears $1m per gig while a gig in another region (ie the south) clears the lesser $600k per gig.
Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?
  • He had those two great songs about the south. I live in the south. People are generaly ignorant rednecks here. That doesn't mean that all are or that there aren't as many up north, but have you ever listened to country music. Rednecks are stupid and really proud of it. Sucks that we have to pay a price like missing Neil Young.

seriously. I listened to Tom Petty from my porch. I can actually hear the shows from my apartment.

I'm loving having that place here in Alpharetta.

Don't think this will be a solo tour. My guess it's the same band he's been with over in Europe. Ben Keith, Chad Cromwell, and Rick Rosas. Setlists have looked pretty good, except he's trotting out Mother Earth again. A few suprises have turned up as one off's too (Time Fades Away(!), For the Turnstiles, Wrecking Ball).

Yeah, I know he's got a band with him, what I was getting at is the only times he's been here in the last 20 years was once with Crazy Horse and once with CSNY. This will be the first time he's played mainly his solo material.
Hello, I love you. Won't you tell me your name?

    +1

i look at it this way...

$250, no matter the venue, no matter if it's with csn, wilco/dcfc etc is a rip

the scalpers(ticketsnow) will get those 90% of those $75 floor seats

Forget the South, where's the Bay Area dates? C'mon Neil! This is where you live and no shows scheduled? I know we get the Bridge Concert (which I believe is still "TBD") every year, but how about a solid 2.5 hour show of Neil playing (mostly) electric???!!!
    Rock on!
