Just to get some balance from the "I hate heavy metal" thread...

Whats your top 5 heavy metal albums of all time ?

Mine would be :

Number of The beast ~ Iron Maiden (An all time classic in my opinion.)
Heaven and Hell ~ Black sabbath (With Ronnie James Dio on vocals.)
Metallica ~ The Black Album.
Back in Black ~ AC/DC (Not true heavy metal but just as tough.)
Led Zeppelin ~ Remasters.

Not the heaviest of the heavy metal, but these are the ones I rate highly.

i think you need to take poetry classes. their music isn't really about that. it's all interpretive, not literal.

I asked my "Power Metal" loving friend and these are his, I don't listen to metal at all so mine would be like Metallica's black album and Thin Lizzy or something anyways:

    (1) Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
    (2) Skyclad - Jonah's Ark
    (3) Tarot - For the Glory of Nothing
    (4) Manowar - Hail to England,
    (5) Singery - Suicide By My Side

Does the first Rage album count as heavy metal?

AC/DC Live for sure. The one with 'Thunderstruck' as the opener

    Alice in Chains - Dirt

    Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger

Led Zeppelin Remasters was a good call

I'm not a hardcore metal fan as you can tell from the lack of Slayer and Megadeth but i'd call Alice in Chains and early Soundgarden Metal and not grunge

    Very nice list my friend.
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.
