I second Hum...they are amazing! It's been too long since I pulled them out, actually.
Hell yeah! I think more people should check them out.
If you like Hum, you should check out Failure. They remind me of a cross between Hum and Sunny Day Real Estate.
Interpol-I just recently discovered them and I can't stop listening to their stuff.

"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
I love Modest Mouse. I seen them this year at the Oz V festival and despite having a shitty time slot and the worst sound drop outs ive ever heard they were awesome.
the Decemberists - the Crane Wife and Picaresque are 2 must have albums
Beirut - definitely an acquired taste....but I love 'em

Devotchka's Transliterator is one of my favourite songs of the last year or so.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
I've never even heard of 'em. I'll have to check them out.
like the above poster said "they are an acquired taste" but if you like DeVotchKa i can see you liking them a bit, errrrr perhaps
This is taken from a review on amazon that i liked the way it summed them up
"This new band consists of teenage musician Zach Condon, along with people from Neutral Milk Hotel and A Hawk and a Hacksaw, making bittersweet folkpop and danceable marches. Imagine a band of slightly drunk gypsies on parade, and you'll have the general idea of how it sounds."
Class, don't tell me you can't wait to hear em now
