I met Michael Stipe in Calgary in 2004. He is tiny in person! I had to tell him how much I appreciated R.E.M.'s music over the years and he was so shy & humble. A totally surreal experience

We did this on AET a little while ago!

    Ooh this caught my eye.

Ok I met John Rzeznik and the other Goo Goo Dolls. They are all really very nice and humble rock stars :)

And I met the bass player for the band called Over It, who opened for the Goos on their last tour.

Yeah, when I met him, he hardly even said hello.
And when someone asked if he could sign some autographs (there were only 7 fans standing there) he didn't reply and just got in his car.

    Fuck him, hes an asshole.

Ever since I met him I could never look at RHCP the same.

They used to be my favorite band too.

Thankfully, every story i've heard about meeting Ed seems to be a good one.

Man, I hope to meet him one day. (Just to say thanks, not to be all stalkerish)

it sounds like anthony was not feeling well or something.

I'm sure there is a great story behind this.... my buddy worked in an ice cream shop for a while when he was getting out of the AF and Bruce used to come in there all the time. He had some stories...

Anyway, my list is rather short.

Cheap Trick (I got a Rolling Rock bottle from Rick)
    Alan Parsons
    The Little River Band
    Tony Bennett (not rock)
The Oak Ridge Boys (not rock, I just ran into them at a festival)
Alice Cooper (sort of, he was at a movie theater following a show that I saw him at. Didn't want to bother him at the theater)

I think I'm missing someone, maybe it'll come to me.

Steve Earle outside of one of his shows.
Rich Robinson, real cool, chatted up with him @ a solo show. Interesting convo nonetheless about Black Crowes, Chris, Kate, etc.
Jim James' Dad (MMJ) Hung out beside him for a whole show
I think I met Isaac Brock in Seattle, but we were both fucked up and didn't say much. I'm 90% sure it was him, but I was trashed and so was he and I didn't want be a dick while he was enjoying a show.
There may be a couple of others, but I can't think of any right now.

    Brian Wilson
    Dickie Betts
    John Entwistle
    Krist Novoselik

all of these were from waiting around after a concert for an autograph - got one from everyone except Bowie - he just gave a handshake.

Tommy Lee - saw him walking near Central Park back in college. We stopped him to say hi - he was such a nice guy - signed autographs and even let us stop in a store to buy a disposable camera to take some pics with him

I also once saw Little Stevie filming the Sopranos in NY a couple of years ago - got his auto as well.

Blink-182 (at a radio station fest)
    Local H
Luscious Jackson (after a show, all very nice and pretty)
Tim, Matt and Lars from Rancid (they signed my Rancid shirt)

Liz Phair - At the Lilith Fair, she was signing promo posters for Whitechocolatespaceegg. I told her to just write, 'To Eric, From Liz'. The guy standing next to her tells her to write something else. So she writes, "To Eric, you are a hot babe! Call me anytime, Liz". Needless to say, I was giddy with excitement (I had a crush on her back then, still do :D)

Andrew WK - At one of the Warped Tours. I waited in line to get an autograph, but he's really long-winded, writes paragraphs worth of stuff for fans. So while he's walking away with his entourage, I get in front of him and ask, "excuse me, can I just shake your hand?" He says, "ABSOLUTELY!" :D

Marilyn Manson (my first "real" concert in '94: NIN\Manson, he came up to the arena to sign autographs ... signed my shirt "i was ass fucked by marilyn")

The losers from Stabbing Westward (they played the Weenie Roast in charlotte, my friends band opened the festival, we got to go backstage ...)
... also the goofballs from For Squirrels ("The Mighty KC") ... same as above.

    Mike Watt
    Perry Ferrell
    Stephen Perkins
-- met them all backstage at a PFP show in '96 ... Watt used to be on AOL, i would message him for no reason in particular ... nice guy that he was got me guest passes when i realized i would be in atlanta, but the show was sold out ... Watt is super nice ... Stephen is THE SHIT! :) Perry is just a space-cadet, BTW.

    Mike McCready
    Jeff Ament
-- Met them various places in St. Johns in '05 ...
Mike is TOO nice, TOO humble. Jeff is shy-ish.

Before a show in Raleigh last summer. It was a very quick and ordered backstage meet and greet. I shook all their hands and just got to say a few words to them. There is a link in my sig of the picture. It was so quick that you couldn't really have much of a conversation or anything. Chris seemed like a pretty nice dude. He was joking around while they were taking the picture. We were told not to ask for any autographs because we would get a free autographed poster. I probably wouldn't have asked for an autograph any way, but I was a little mad when I walked out and saw that the autographs on the poster were just facsimiles. After seeing them in person all I could think about was that those guys coulda played Stillwater in "Almost Famous".
