the white stripes were the first band that came to my mind too. an annoying as shit singer with mediocre songs and a lot of fuzzy guitar. i cannot for the life of me understand the universal hype, praise, and ass-kissing this band gets.
The perfect assessment!!

Oasis - can't stand them. Mediocre pub rock at best. Music made by monkeys with no intellect, seeing Noel Gallagher interviewed is painful. Liam has probably my least favourite voice of all time. The Beatles shit on them musically from such great heights, the comparrison between the two bands is a joke.
Foo Fighters - SOOOOOO boring, just like Oasis. Never understood the adulation they get esp. Dave 'Nicest man in rock' Grohl.

has anyone ever actually compared oasis to the beatles besides oasis? i always hear this complaint but i've never actually known anyone to make the comparison besides the band themselves...
and like that... he's gone.

I listen to a lot of bands similar to above but I can't stand any of them.

Honestly though... you may not like the new stuff that he's got, but on Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace, the song "The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" was made specifically for those miners that got stuck in the shafts... but the story is, Grohl had heard the miners, that were stuck, requested iPods with Foo Fighters on them... so Grohl gave a message that said when they get out of the mine, there'll be tickets waiting for them to go to any Foo Fighters concert of their choosing... so after one of the Foo Fighters shows one night, one of the miners had a beer with Grohl and after that, the Foo Fighters recorded "The Ballad of the Beaconsfield Miners" just for those guys.
I tried to like them when they opened for PJ but just could not get into them...sorry
I've tried and I'm trying but it just hasn't worked for me so far.
Peace

I just don't care for him. I get a very fake vibe from him. Again, this thread is "people we should like but don't". I don't really have a great answer which is why i listed him
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”
Queens of the Stone Age. Loved Rated R and Songs for the Deaf, but everything since has been awful. Live it doesn't get much worse either. Which frustrates me even more because people constantly go on about how awesome they are. To me they haven't been awesome live or on record for a good 5 years now, which is way more of a grace period than I can give a band.
Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays & The Smiths. I went to Manchester University, apparently that means I have to love the manchester indie scene... it doesn't.

OK cool I just wondered. He's my friend and if you ever get a chance to hang with him he's one of the coolest most upfront guys I've ever met. You gotta like a guy who is playing Langerado Festival in FL who flies in from LA tired as hell and shows up as a surprise at MY birthday party. Partied with him in England too, his new album comes out on Tuesday.
Peace

In defense of Foo Fighters (there's no defending Oasis), I wasn't a big fan until I saw them live (they opened for The Police at Dodger Stadium).
After experiencing the primal frenzy that is their live show, I finally understood what everyone was talking about. Even in a venue as massive as Dodger Stadium, the guys managed to electrify the place.
It's been my experience that if a band puts on a righteous live show, I begin to appreciate their studio albums more. And that certainly has been the case with Foo Fighters.
In summary...
See Foo Fighters live, if you can.
and...
Oasis sucks.
"In the depths of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer." -- Albert Camus

The first two pages of this thread are full of so much awful blasphemy :( How could anyone not get the Beatles/Zeppelin/Stones/Cash....etc?
For me, there are bands I don't like, but none of them I think I 'should like', that's a crazy theory....just like what you like and don't worry about genres or trends.
Great song off a great album which is highly underrated.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

And I'm not living this life without you, I'm selfish and clear
And you're not leaving here without me, I don't wanna be without
My best... friend. Wake up, to see you could have it all
I agree....the vocals produced by this band are terrible.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
Apparently U2 are the greatest band in the world but i can barely tolerate them, besides a few songs. Same goes for The Beatles and Led Zep. I know their shit is good and maybe they are as good as everyone says but why? why the fuck do these bands deserve so much hype?
All the above and also add Pink Floyd, The Who, Bob Dylan, MMJ, Oasis and others I cant think of right now.
Bruce Springsteen.
Rolling Stones.
ACDC.
White Stripes.
Thanks guys reading the thread reminded me.:)
And as for the person who said QOTSA haven't been good live for over 5 years, I saw them in March this year and would say they were absolutely awesome, possibly the best I've seen and I've seen alot of good bands play some great shows. including Queens back in 1999.
once again i have to ask. all you people who actually named bands you think you should like but dont(for whatever reason) why why WHY?? do you think you need to like these bands. who told you that and why are you listening? people are fucked. listen to yourself. and like what you listen to and be content in knowing thats what you should like. nothing else. it doesnt matter to me that a lot of you dont like oasis. ill still listen and ill still like listening to them regardless .

My interpretation of the initial post was bands that when you say you do not like them, people freak out. Frankly, I couldn't care less what people on this board or elsewhere think about my musical tastes, and I would never attempt to like a band simply because I feel like I am supposed to like them. I listed My Morning Jacket and Kings of Leon because a vast majority of the people on this board love them. I gave each a listen and couldn't get into them. No worries on my part.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
