personally I think it's pretty embarassing.

Haven't listened to that version yet, but the live version is amazing:

absolutely nothing new, after the intro i got bored and almost fell asleep
  • Sounds great... loved it a year ago, loved it live, love it now. Thanks for the link!
  • After getting past the intro and outro, which I didn't care for, it was actually a solid song.

Very disappointed in the 1st lead guitar "solo," but the true solo later in the song was good.

You definitely can't expect GNR from 15-20 years ago...even in a creative vacuum, it's not the same band, so...

PS - thanks for the link!

  • I don't like old GNR, and I think Rose's voice is just gone now. But in his defense, that song at least indicates that he has some creative vision. It's pretty clear he was the only one in the band that wanted to evolve artistically. Velvet Revolver pretty much proves that point. So I'll give Axl credit for at least wanting to make GNR evolve. But I still think I can go on myspace right now and find a dozen songs that are better than this one in about 20 minutes. There's a lot of talent out there, and Axl Rose doesn't really stand up anymore.

I've been very familiar with this song for a while now by watching it on the Rock Am Ring DVD and seeing it live... this leaked version is better at some parts, but I think it's overall weaker than the live version.

The YouTube link that I posted a few posts back is from the Rock Am Ring DVD. I suggest everyone watch that, too.

I agree the new 1st lead before the bridge needs work or simply needs to be removed again. Love the song though. I love the intro. Makes the song kick you in the face and the outro completes the circle. Great new sound for GnR. And it is ridiculous live!

Pretty good....updated guns n roses sound. Still no new sweet child.
    You can´t trust a vegetarian.
  • guns n roses better? better than what?

they are a joke compared to the band that released appetite for destruction. axl's mad as a box full of stoats and i don't believe that the album chinese democracy exists any more than democracy in china!

and if it does, it isn't going to be worth the 10 year wait, or the millions of dollars that have been wasted on it.

It's too bad. They were so awesome back in the day. This song is pretty lame in my opinion. Will always be one of the greatest bands ever but this song sucks....they could certainly do "better".
    Be excellent to each other
  • Yikes...Axl's voice has really deteriorated. Stay away from drugs, kids.

It seems as though he's trying to write another "Coma". That will never happen.
    I'll cut you in.

The comparing of old GnR and the new Gnr is inevitable. Right now there is no comparison and to me there never will be. But if you take the current rock scene and apply the new Gnr tune, Better, to it, in my opinion, and I repeat in my opinion, I think the future of hard rock looks promising. Gnr are going to shake it up and refresh a stale scene.......Axl still has it in him, I know he does.....

  • How can any of you possibly compare this to old G'N'R? Aside from Axl, it is a completely different band. Yes, Axl uses the G'N'R name but, be realistic, its a completely new band. You won't get Sweet Child O' Mine II. "He's trying to create another Coma." He seems to be running from the old G'N'R sound so, I don't agree at all. The song is a hook heavy and has a cool melody, its nothing spectacular but, at least he is trying to move forward unlike Velvet Revolver who rely on the same tired riffs that were used 10-15 years ago.
The Official Matt Cameron appreciation signature!

if that's moving forward then maybe he should have stuck with what he was good at!

    Agree.

    Love this song.
  • Listening to the song again, the chorus really sounds like it could have fit into Metallica's "St. Anger" album.

  • Could be "better" :)

But seriously it is the best of the new stuff I have heard..Chinese Democracy & The blues aren't bad either..You have to wonder about the quality of the tracks he has refused to play live though..Since the new live ones have sounded pretty much the same from 2002-2006 it must be these "unreleased" tunes he is messing with and delaying the album so much.

I've loved all the songs that have leaked, don't know why people even bother comparing it to the old Guns. It's not, Axl should have changed the name of the band but didn't. That shouldn't affect wether it's a good song or not. I dig it. A hell of a lot better then other stuff out there today. Just release the damn album already..

That would be Richard Fortus, formerly of Love Spit Love.
