discussing thematic stuff is usually somewhat productive, but when comes to issues of individual taste that, my friend, is a dead end street.
But if there are 2 open minded mature adults dicussing personal taste and both can find a way to communicate why they have those preferences then individual taste can be discussed just as productively.
"So forget the other boys because my love is real.
Come off your battlefield."

what's the point? when it comes down to it, it really makes no difference if we like the same shit. maybe it's just me, but i prefer not to push my musical taste, politics, spiritual beliefs on my family, friends, etc. if people ask my opinion on what do i think of X band then I will tell them, but otherwise it's just a waste of breath.
"Goddamn Romans. Sure know how to make a ... drum room." --Matt Cameron
Pearl Jam: A nation at war with the world, at war with each other, at war with themselves. Notice the common theme of falling, sleeplessness, and ultimately trying to escape.
Yeah, i can certainly agree that this is a recurring theme.
nation at war with the world: world wide suicide
with each other: unemployable, marker in the sand
with themselves: life wasted, gone, inside job
sure, it isnt dark side of the moon, etc. but in my mind its still very cohesive
i think the foo fighters are a really good american band as well. I like bands that put on good live shows and ive seen the foos on a normal tour and an acoustic one and they've blown me away both times.
yeah they are pretty good, I really enjoy the record!!!
The strokes, yeah yeah yeah's, interpol, the new york scene is pretty good!!
I highly recommend this band from seattle "Band of Horses", their record is really amazing, some of the best music I've heard in a while, they kind of sound like My Mornig Jacket (great band!!) but in their own way.
and there are other pretty good bands, but I can't remember the names now. lol.
Pearl Jam Mexico 2005, The greatest year ever!

Charlotte 00 Charlotte 03 Asheville 04 Atlanta 12 Greenville 16, Columbia 16 Seattle 18 Nashville 22 Ohana Festival 24 x2
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Interpol out of NYC. 1st albumn, Turn on the Bright Lights, was an amazing debut. 2nd albumn, Antics, was twice as good. Havn't heard them live, but they're a solid band with some potential
"You think I got my eyes closed but I've been lookin' at you the whole fuckin' time...
It's a real shame they had to part with Nick Oliveri! Now they don't play the songs he usually sang the lead on. They still throw a great show though. Still, lost some good songs that can be played. And Mark Lanegan isn't a full time member. But I still liked their last cd, Lullabies to Paralyze and will look forward to whenever they come out with new stuff.
while the drive by truckers might not be the "newest" band they are certainly making big waves. you can still see them in small venues for $15. that is the best rock, that money will buy.

Chevelle
Breaking Benjamin
Shinedown
Seether
SOAD
Stone Sour
Audioslave
Shinedown kicks ass!!! I'm listening to their newest album right now. System of a Down is another great band, and I've been digging Stone Sour lately as well.
I wasn't aware Death Cab, were considered rock... I like to call it sleepy time music.
Queens of the Stone Age! Now that is a straight up down and dirty rock band. Blazing guitars and dark melodies. Just heavey enough to headbang (who says headbang anymore?) but beautifully melodic at the same time.
Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?
There's always some serious love on this board for some DBT!!!!!
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

yeah I mention them!!
I saw them live last year!! awesome band, love the 2 albums!!! My favorite song is Obstacle 1!! They are pretty good live, they don't make so much contact with the audience but that's the way they are, their music is obscure so they are too, but they sound really really good!!! I highly recommend them you will like them, actually is my 3rd favorite show of 2005 behind audioslave and of course Pearl Jam!!!
Oh I can't believe I forgot The Arcade Fire!!! AWESOME BAND!! my fave record of 2004!!!
