Definitely get the entire album. It's such an underrated album. I'm wondering if it ever sold a million copies? Probably, probably not as a lot of folks easily missed this album due to it being released pre-Ten, pre-Badmotorfinger. Easily one of my all-time favorite albums. So get the entire album and you won't regret it!
Most popular track (and only video/radio hit): Hungerstrike
My favorite tracks:
Say Hello 2 Heaven
Reach Down (supposedly, McCready did this all in one take!!!)
Call Me a Dog (particularly McCready's clean Strat playing!)
Times of Trouble (which is an alternate version "Footsteps")
Wooden Jesus (oh screw it, every track on there is my favorite!)

my personal favourite is either hunger strike or say hello to heaven - quality tunes.

"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"
Yep, the album is definitely worth getting, but it kinda gets boring after a little bit.
I disagree.
That was and will always be one of my favorite albums. I don't think it loses any of the magic,.. it's just kind of a mood record (like, you have to be in a certain mood to really get into it).

McCready did play Reach Down's solo in one take.. they said he was completely tangled in his headphone cords at the end of it too

But Say Hello to Heaven and Reach Down stay with you for a while.
First time I've ever heard that. Typically, it's considered a masterpiece. That's the general consensus. It's one of my favorite albums ever.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Nah, it's not a masterpiece, IMO. It kind of lacks cohesiveness (which I guess is typical for a supergroup's first and only album) and like I said, it gets kind of boring. I couldn't say why specifically. But I do enjoy the album.
It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win
Call Me a Dog - The song doesn't get that much praise, but listen to the lyrics and the way it is delivered. This song said "I love you" more than any song I've ever heard in my life. Funny because it's never said directly in the song.
But when its my time to throw
The next stone
Ill call you beautiful if I call at all
And then listen to the way these lines are sung:
The bad luck will follow you
If you keep me on a leash
and you drag me alooOOOooOOOooong.....
Everyone I personally know who has discovered this album sings praises to it.
The way Cornell sings Say Hello 2 Heaven is something to behold. Holy shit, does he belt that out. Try it on a jukebox in a trashy bar after about 10 beers. It's awesome

this album consistantly stays in my top 10 albums ever. it is amasing what they came up with together... and as it has been said before chris sounds the best he ever has on this record.
Probably my fave from the album is call me a dog but get the whole album it's worth it and check out Mad Season Above too. "Well you say it's bad luck to have fallen for me, what can I do to make it good for you." Now I gotta go listen to it.
Seems the more you make
equals the loneliness you get

i really love mikes solo in call me a dog... i really think every member of the band playing the absolute best they could at this time, all mikes solos are so well crafted. Matt's drumming is awesome, i believe i heard somewhere all the drumming was just done first take?
