Does Anyone Ever Read These Threads? Or Do They Just Reply And Forget About It?
It's amazing. I see message boards as platforms for dialogue, which is why I get ticked when people don't support their arguments with critical thought. That being said, dialogue about lists like these is a bit tougher. It's nice seeing Arcade Fire pop up on other people's lists. It continues to boggle my mind that people limit their musical tastes to a period of rock from roughly 1991-1996. But hey, whatever works for people. The lists here are a bit more diverse than what normally pops up on this board though.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

That's because the median fan age right now for this BBS is in the late 20's.....basically you get into music when you about 10,11,12,13 or so....and what was big in that time....The Grunge Movement! That's the same reason when you ask "our parent"....ages 55-60...they always say the Beatles...or Elvis. It's what you define yourself with.

I am 29, but I didn't get stuck in that era. For me, the music that has been made in the last seven years is even better than the music of the early 90s. And even aside from that, I grew up listening to my parents' music, which is why The Beatles are near the top of my list. There is great music in every era. To fit oneself into a tiny little box is to miss out on all the amazing stuff that exists outside of that box.
