I believe that on at least one occasion, Ed said this song was about an acid trip. Anyone know what show/shows?

I shut and locked the front door
    No way in or out
I turned and walked the hallway
    And pulled the curtains down
I knelt and emptied the mouth of every club around
    But nothing's sound, nothing's sound

I'd stay but my last tab left me
    Ignored all my rounds
Soon I was seeing visions and cracks along the walls
    They were upside down

I swallow my words to keep from lying
I swallow my face just to keep from biting, I, I..
I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving, diving
I surfaced when all of my pen wasn't writing

    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding

It's been about three days now
    Since I've been aground
No longer overwhelmed and it seems so simple now
It's funny when things change so much
    It's all state of mind

I swallowed my words to keep from lying
I swallowed my face just to keep from biting I, I...
I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving, I was diving
I surfaced and all around me was enlightened
    Now I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding

    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding
    I'm in hiding

    ED is an trip

but i think acids more about hedonism. if your on acid and in hiding u took too much or are having a bad trip.

i think hiding is more about reflection. feeling bummed out about things. but maby it is about a trip. who knows???
    its ok

i guess now i can see some drug reference..at certain parts.. but i just don't think that's what he means. i get such a different feel from it and it always seemed like this uplifting magesty of a tune, and i never got the drug reference. but hey, who knows? although ed never did acid. he said in an interview he only used to smoke pot on occasion and he has tried ecstacy a few times. thats it.

  • I think 'In Hiding' is most definitely about tripping and the enlightened feeling some are able to experience with it. After my own experiences, I can identify with many of the lines of that song, especially the part about things seeming so simple now. A lot that was always harder for me before just became so clear and easier to figure out

    Times of Trouble:

    When the spoon is hot
    And the needles sharp
    And you drift away
    I can hear you say
    That the world in black
    Is upon your back
    And your body shakes
    So you ditch away
    And you close the shades

    PBM

    Brilliant song.
I caught a flash of flash of your smile through the fog of a dream, I'll have a hell of a time I clearly see, I can't be by your side, see you when I sleep.

The Beatles- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
This song has been widely considered to be about LSD since the song's release, but until recently band members maintained that the title's initials were a coincidence. Paul McCartney now admits that the song is indeed about LSD.

Pink Floyd- Nobody Home (nicotine, cocaine, marijuana)
    Glassjaw- Two Tabs of Mescaline
Oasis- Cigarettes & Alcohol (alcohol, nicotine, cocaine)
Modest Mouse- The Good Times Are Killing Me (LSD, cocaine, methamphetamine, alcohol)
Zwan- Number of the Beast (methamphetamine)
