Yep. He also played all the drums on The Colour and the Shape except for Doll and the slow part in Up In Arms which William Goldsmith did. And he and Taylor shared the drum parts on There is Nothing Left to Lose.

I worked as a waiter out in Malibu, and while I served many celebrities, Dave was one of my favorites. Very nice and tipped me HUGE! Believe it or not, but a lot of celebrities generally leave normal tips (18-20%). The only two people that I would say were a better overall experience were Dustin Hoffman and Edward Norton. Dustin bought me an entree and let me sit down and eat with him and his friend...while I was working! Luckily, my manager was cool and it was a slow night so I gave away my other tables.
Whoa, chill bro... you know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.

I think that they are stupidly over rated. 60% of their last record was filler. And One By One is unlistenable.

PJ will always be my favorite band...

but I think the foos are a better ROCK band

pj's musicianship and songwriting is superior by far

but live the foos are always in high gear live

I think it would be interesting to hear a new Foos album with Pat Smear adding a 3rd guitar to the proceedings.:)

ive always been a big fan of the foos but i was not impressed with there last studio album, it was very blah. . .especially the acoustic side, it was sleep inducing. . .and i usually like there softer songs

agreed.....too much filler and not very focused.....but the new album sounds like it could be very cool......and after seeing them open for the police i can't wait to see a full show....:)

Good band, last album was awful! Fun to see live but there are better bands...

Dave is a great musician but just doesn't do much for me live...

I love alot of the foos songs (Like the first 2 records and all the singles) but is it bad if I think they are way better live? I've seen them live twice, and my God, they are AMAZING! Hope I don't get reemed for this.

Also is Pat permenantly back in the band, or is he just lending a hand? Like on the accoustic tour and dvd/ new album?

I think Pat was just on the accoustic tour, not sure if he is on the new album, but I would love to hear them as a 5 piece with Pat on an album.:)

I agree. I thought that "Times Like These" song was embarassing...a far cry from the quality of their first two albums.

I love the Foos. And they are great to see live.
    My ONLY criticism would be...
Then need to go deeper into their vast catalog for their live shows. Yeah, we all love the hits... and you know 'Evelong' is a staple, like 'Yellow Ledbetter' is to us... but, there are so many songs in their catalog they can bring out.
Other than that... great live shows. And I love 'Stacked Actors'.... not just the song... but, that's when Dave goes into the audience with his guitar and the whole place goes crazy.

Agree. Exhausted, Floaty and X-Static would be so sweet to hear live, if I ever chose to see them again

They ARE an amazing band live! I also think the Foos are one of those bands better live than on record.

Anyone catch them on the Foocoustic tour? I saw them on my birthday in LA (the show they taped for Skin and Bones. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to. They are so tight musically. GREAT band. love em.

I caught the first two of three shows at the Pantages... the one where he talks about Kurt's turtles and the one where he talks about Kurt's girlfriend. I missed the thrid show because the Chili Peppers were playing that night.
The original concept was supposed to be like their last album... to tour both the rock show and the acoustic show at the same time... that is, play a big, loud, fast Arena Rock show one night and a sit down, talk to the audience Theater Show the next night. I guess the logistics got in the way... I don't know if they still want to do that.

I'm not a fan at all, but I respect them. I know a lot of people that are really , really into them. They do nothing for me, but to each their own.
    I'll keep taking punches

I would have loved it if they had formatted it that way, I would for sure have gone to multiple nights if they had. Was it me or did a good majority of the Pantages crowd suck? I don't know what it is but LA crowds annoy the shit out of me (no offense any LA people but it's true). About 80 percent of the people there are getting up and down getting drinks ALL NIGHT, yapping to each other and jaw jacking on their cell phones. It's like it's a place to be seen rather then actually listen to and enjoy the music. I had the same experience the other day seeing Chris Cornell at the Wiltern.

Night One was definately bad. It was filled with 'Friends and Family' and V.I.P. Guest Listers. They got the front section... us fans were further back. Dave even makes a reference to this in the DVD.
The Second Night was much better. The references to the 818 (Valley) was made on the Second Night... and something that was cut from the DVD... two obnoxious guys that Dave made fun of that we're screaming for attention in the 3rd or 4th row.
"Hey Dude... I see you're wearing a 'Tool' Shirt. Very descriptive."
and when he found out they were from Virginia (where Dave was originally from) he said he's never gonna admit to being from Virginia again.
    It was really funny shit.
And 'See You' on the DVD was from Night Three... the show i missed. The other nights, Drew Hester did a Triangle solo and a Casstinette solo... and Taylor got an intro and a sweet little drum solo... and Pat Smear and Petra Haden also got intros.

I was at night two then because I remember him going on a wrap about Virginia and never going back. Dave was pretty much a stand up all night. He's a funny dude. I also remember the solo I think with castanets. I dont' recall taylor soloing though. That must have been the night before. I just can't stand crowds that aren't fans of the music. I had pretty good seats but it seemed like a lot of people where just wasting time drinking and yapping until they played Everlong. Why go do a show like that when you are only interested in 1 song? That has been my continued experience at LA shows.

yes, i agree with the one by one comment... it was a huge disappointment cause for a long time i actually claimed them as my favorite band during highschool.
