Three Snakes and Amorica are vastly underated albums. "Girl From a Pawnshop" is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

I think they are great live but I can see why people may not be into them in concert, they play alot of covers and new songs so people may not even know 50% of their set. Plus they tend to extend their songs, a 20 minute version of Thorn in My Pride isn't for eveyone but its just right for me.

Edit- I do find it ironic you mention that you look for more original bands and have Oasis in your handle. I dig Oasis but still its rather humorous.

You need to actually by the records to hear what you want at their show.

PJ fans are some of the most close minded fans ever. The Crowes were quietly blowing peoples minds for years while not on the radio because they couldn't be processed on the radio.

Wiser Time and many other song are not radio potential. It doesn't mean they aren't great songs. They only drop 3-4 covers on average into a 3 hour set.
  • Love Wiser Time! Love the feel the guys have when they're together as Crowes and when they do their own thing. So much talent in this band ... reminds me of this other band I know of...

BTW, is there a Crowes board like this one? Sure would like to keep up with what they're doing.

Love love love this band. I've seen them almost 15 times. They are playing in Ft. Worth on Sept. 2 but I don't know if I will be able to make it.

To the thread starter: make sure you see them live. They are incredible. You have no idea what they will play or how they will arrange it.

Faves: No Speak No Slave, Wiser Time, Sister Luck, By Your Side, Remedy, Sting Me, Cursed Diamond, Up on a Mountain, Ballad In Urgency, DECENDING!, My Morning Song, Soul Singing

Just to name a few. :D

According to a blurb in Rolling Stone, they are putting the finishing touches on a new album. I assume this is different than a new "old" album which was their last release.

    The album is already recorded.
    From blackcrowes.com:

"The Black Crowes have completed the recording of their new album and will start mixing in September for a Spring 2008 release. Sixteen new tracks were recorded, all of which have not yet been played to a live audience. The album was recorded at Allaire Studios in Shokan, New York and was produced by Paul Stacey and the Black Crowes. Prior to the start of recording, The Black Crowes brought in Adam MacDougall to perform on keyboards and are proud to announce that Adam will be joining The Black Crowes for future touring. In addition, The Black Crowes invited Luther Dickinson from North Mississippi Allstars to perform on the record."
  • They were the first rock band I saw live in concert. :)

Saw them at the Riverside in Milwaukee 1992. Seen them a half dozen times since then. One of my favorite bands. :D

interesting... lost crowes was pretty good. lions was a disappointment and their albums on the whole have been inconsistent since amorica. but they are a force live and i know they've still got it enough to do something truly impressive.

  • Seein them in Oct at the Pageant in the Lou. Caught them there in 01. There is not a bad Crowes release imo. They are like a Zeppelin or PJ for me. Almost every song is good.

    Live, holy shit.Ridiculous

And is somebody on a PJ message board saying that a band is inconsistent live b/c they play several covers, rare songs?
