  • its the most obvious choice but 10,000 days is the best album released so far (that i've purchased).
    The wind is blowing cold
Have we lost our way tonight?
Have we lost our hope to sorrow?

    Feels like were all alone
    Running further from what’s right
And there are no more heroes to follow

    So what are we becoming?
    Where did we go wrong?

  • I'm gonna say Pearl Jam and i think it will be my all out fav for the year, first time in a long time one of my heroes hasn't disapointed, still love the album and it really rocks

    Honourable mentions to

Flaming Lips ( this album really surprised me, never having been a fan before but I love this.

Gilmour ( A little disapointing, could have rocked more but it's got David's sublime guitar all over it so it's not all bad, if we can't have new Floyd then this will do)

I'm going with Rather Ripped by Sonic Youth. The 1st 3 songs alone are worth the price of admission. (the rest are good too!)

I'll second that... although ABAAC isn't as strong as the last two DBT albums...
    I concur

But it's more loose, I think.
Not as ragged as DD and DS...but I really like it.
After the next one, it will really fit in with those two I think. needs some time to sink in.

It's been an incredible year for new music! Here's what I've got so far in contention for album of the year:

    Pearl Jam- Pearl Jam
Neko Case- Fox Confessor Brings the Flood
    Sam Roberts- Chemical City
Johnny Cash- American V: A Hundred Highways
    Chili Peppers- Stadium Arcadium
    Cracker- Greenland
Ben Harper- Both Sides of the Gun

If the year ended now, my top 10 might look a little something like this...

    1. Muse - Black Holes & Revelations
    2. Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam
    3. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not
    4. Wolfmother - Wolfmother
    5. Band Of Horses - Everything All The Time
    6. The Black Angels - Passover
    7. Sam Roberts - Chemical City
    8. Thom Yorke - The Eraser
    9. Towers Of London - Blood, Sweat And Towers
    10. Eagles Of Death Metal - Death By Sexy

Still a long way to go, though. By the end of the year, we'll have new stuff from The Mars Volta, TV On The Radio, Bloc Party, Mastodon, The Tragically Hip, and any amount of new artists that could contend for a spot on the list.
2006 might have started a little slow, but it's picking up steam at an alarming pace. Bring on the new music!

But after September 12...The Mars Volta's Amputechture will be the album of the year.
