    Couple more,

Faith No More - Easy (lionel richie orig)
Faith No More - I started a joke (beegees orig)
FNM's cover of War Pigs is also fantastic....maybe not better, but on par with Sabbaths'.

    Aaron lewis - black

kidding. I want to stab myself in the hears with the nearest kitchen utensil when I hear him covering black. He took an emotional song and turned it into an emotional whine.
If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

All of the covers that Van Halen do are better than the originals.

You Really Got Me - Kinks original

Speaking of The Kinks, Fountains of Wayne's version of "Better Days" totally goes off.

    best cover-marilyn manson

I totally disagree all of Bob Dylan's originals are better than people covering them except for I do like Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower he also did a nice cover of Like a Rolling Stone, he just had so much respect for Dylan but I love Dylan's originals way more than those who cover. I personally like Johnny Cash's version of Hurt more than NIN's original.

I have always gotten shit for this one, but my favorite cover is Janes Addictions version of Sympathy for the Devil. It's early Janes, it's wild and it's live - just amazing.

    Let's see what else ---
Oh I really liked that Pantera cover of Planet Caravan and I have to say that I think Rufus Wainwright does the best Across the Universe cover. :)

I really enjoyed the drive by truckers doing "like a rolling stone"

Is it all hate or does anyone have love for GnR's "knockin on heavens door"?

I obviously have much love for gnr's version. Their version of live n let die is good too (its the best live), however i could do w/out the song all together...both cover and original.

    but seriously....

Original: Thin Lizzy, Whiskey in the Jar
Cover: Metallica, Whiskey in the Jar

Err, Thin Lizzy did NOT write Whiskey in the Jar.. it's an old traditional song. I think it dates back as far as the 18th century... The Dubliners did it (and did a better version of it) before Thin Lizzy..

And someone made a good call on Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World.

Where Did You Sleep Last Night? is another great Nirvana cover.

I personally think that all Nirvana covers are better than the originals, but that's just me. Only ones that just barely win are the Meat Puppets covers and the Ledbelly cover. I'm sure if they were studio covers they'd win by a lot.

Wait I forgot the Zeppelin covers. Nirvana < Led Zeppelin.
