Any Nas fans out there? I'm not a big hip hop guy but damn this guy keep delivering. I really enjoy the new single "hip hop is dead". but i don't think anything could beat stillmatic. This man is what hip hop should be.
His first 2 releases [Illmatic and It Was Written] are classics. I listen to those two albums
as much as any rock album.
After several months of listening. I like HHID better than Stillmatic. Stillmatic had better overall singles, but HHID is a more consistent listen all the way through.
I think Stillmatic has a pretty weak last 6 or 7 songs IMHO.
I don't know Nas but just wondering if there are plenty of brilliant lyrical lines about jewels, cars, cash, guns, expensive clothing or who's gonna kill who next in this album? Rappers are such f'n geniuses when it comes to that sort of shit. and their messages really get through..not a day goes by here where i don't hear the kids outside enjoying their new 9's or gats or whatever they call 'em now and usually only a few killings a day on a quiet one. and i really love the cars with the bass so fucking loud it rattles the foundation on my house always enjoying. one just went by as i was typing this how sweet . A whole new generation of Gangsta Hoods with big brim cap, big t-shirt, big necklace, big charm, big pants, big tims, big guns, big chip on shoulder, big grudges, big attitudes....big fucking waste of life.
What an effin' dumb post. Even more ridiculous than some of my bullshitters.

Are you kidding me? Every Ghetto is one of Nas' most underrated tracks ever. Nas and Blitz tore it up lyrically on that joint. What Goes Around is a damn good social commentary by Nas and Second Childhood features Nas' storytelling skills at its best. Destroy & Rebuild was a dagger in Prodigy and Cormega's sides. Rule and My Country were both decent, leaving The Flyest as the only so-so cut, unless you include the shitty Braveheart Party song that was later omitted from Stillmatic.

i think i agree with you, although i would say there is a lot of filler in general on stillmatic. smokin is terrible. so is you're da man. after that, about every other track is solid but not particularly memorable. it does have some serious high points, but they're kinda buried.
also, i dig ether, but i have to say jay-z's takeover owns that. nas relies on questionable "you're faggots" knocks. jay-z tore apart his legacy and career. nas was tossing playground insults, jay-z was hurting with the truth of an inconsistent career.

He was actually 20. He was 22 when he wrote It Was Written.
