Saw Matt Chamberlain play with Tori Amos the other night and he was amazing, as was she. There are many great drummers out there, however.. Matt Cameron is no doubt at the top heap.
This changes alot for me. Just the other day all those little fills that Neil Peart does in Tom Sawyer were kickin my ass. There has gotta be 100 essential drum licks in that song.
geez, as if this forum didn't have enough drummer debates between dave, jack, and matt. now were asking whos the best drummer period? this is the type of question that is a never ending debate. if you want the person with the fastest hands just type up "buddy rich" on youtube. you will be in complete amazement. i thought the dude fastforwarded the tape, yes his hands are THAT fast.

yes i know he is the best ever but he is dead :(
thread is about now... he isn't the best drummer in the world as he isn't around..
Jon Theodore, formerly of The Mars Volta, is the best I have ever seen, and by a wide margin. I'd throw in Jose Pasillas from Incubus and Glen Kotche from Wilco too.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
Glad to see Phil Collins getting some respect...the man is a very talented musician...I agree also with Neil Peart, Matt Cameron, Danny Carey...I did not see the Police on tour, but I've always really liked Stewart Copeland...I appreciate drummers that are distinctive and easily identifiable...
btw, have any of you guys seen Buddy Rich play? Check out some of his stuff on youtube, it's pretty awesome...
Phil Selway Radiohead
Trent Reznor/his live drummer (that takes a lot of work) Nine Inch Nails
Jose Pasillas Incubus
Jeremiah Green Modest Mouse
Ágúst Ævar Gunnarsson Sigur Rós
But to be honest... they're not even close to a "best" drummer... so
Comments
People like Dennis Chambers, Tony Royster Jr, Terry Bozzio, Neil Peart are some of the best
immy Chamberlin or Matt Cameron are also verry good
Its hard to tell as most arn't in their prime anymore
Geddy Lee?
I was going to point that out too. I believe he means Neil Peart.
And Matt Cameron, yes is a very good drummer, is not the best in the world.
It feels like this topic comes up again every couple of months.
Check out Gene Lake. He's a pretty badass drummer, and I personally think he's better than Matt.
I meant Neil HAHAHAH

Neil Peart.
There is no greatest now or ever.
My favorite though is Barrett (Screaming Tree's) and Danny Carey (Tool).
Just kidding and stirring shit.

Matt Cameron
