That's been the consensus about it! Must be what they're going for since it's so overt.

See These Bones
It looks like a coffin in soil with a large finger print over the rest of it.
Nobody means it literally looks like a vagina...but there's a very clear resemblence.
Yep, that's exactly what it "really" is, but still...

I'm expecting the latter...
Haha fair enough, I guess my mind is not as dirty as I thought it was.:)

Actually, it's supposed to the the magnetic field around the coffin, get it? Death Magnetic. Anyway, here's a quote by James Hetfield explaining the title:
"Death Magnetic, at least the title, to me, started out as kind of a tribute to people that have fallen in our business, like Layne Staley and a lot of the people that have died, basically — rock and roll martyrs of sorts. And then it kind of grew from there. Thinking about death… some people are drawn towards it, and just like a magnet, [and] other people are afraid of it and push away. And the concept that we're all gonna die sometimes is over-talked about and then a lot of times never talked about — no one wants to bring it up; it's the big white elephant in the living room. But we all have to deal with it at some point. ”
Yeah I see that. lol.
But I see that as a fingerprint more than the coffin as a vagina haha, lol, rofl, lmao and other internet bollocks.
Slated for September according to all the major Metallica sites, but nothing firm yet.

Is this really the print of the album cover? If that's a vagina, then that's one scary looking Bush.
Peace

According to Metallica.com and the major fansites endorsed by the band, yes. At least a rough draft...but Metallica.com says "cover art boys and girls!"

Thank you for the laugh reeferchief! Been a long day
Thanks... looking forward to it. Have there been any tracks leaked or anything? Any talk about what sound they're going for on this one?

You can hear some rehearsals and riffs and stuff on the Mission Metallica site. All the early returns are that it's very 80's Metallica, in every way. Very intricate song structure with lots of changes, searing guitar solos, epic length, etc. When you watch the vids on Mission Metallica, these guys look like they're really enjoying themselves, which is a HUGE departure from what's been seen more recently. We all know how depressing the entire St. Anger (therapy) sessions were...this is like the complete opposite. Quite frankly, they're reminding me of how they appeared in the 80's when they were regularly fucking off and having a good time.

Sweet ! Thanks for the information man, I appreciate it. I'll have to check that site out when I get a chance. It would be nice to see a return to form for them. I must say I was disappointed with St. Anger. I liked it more after seeing them play some of the songs live, but it rarely makes an appearance in my CD player. Just doesn't sound like Metallica, and when I want to listen to Metallica I usually end up putting in Master or And Justice.
Like I said, looking forward to this one

And U must admit it - the cover is not so BIG art - it so easy to see there a coffin and magnetic field.
Anyway, the new songs from youtube... mmm... maybe i will pay more attention to their music in this album? It sounds really interesting

I dont expect it to be a nail in the coffin...not with Rick Rubin producing it....Look at how many records and careers hes saved
This is true
I second that..

I agree. I also agree that it looks like a vagina. The album title is pure cheese... They should've gone with "St Anger", now THAT would never ooze cheese... oh wait...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
*allegedly*
