  • It is definitely the most approachable song on the album. Soup took a few listenting to's for me to fully appreciate it. The self titled album gets my vote for overall quality though. I am very interested in seeing Blind Melon live this next time around.

I love how he's just talking about a car that he loves to drive. It's a cool story. "The Cadillac is sitting in the back, it isn't me, I'm more at home in my Galaxie"

Awesome double meaning. He did that a ton.
"I've got things to do and things to say in my own way..."
  • They are playing in Ft Lauderdale, Florida on Dec 5th. Tickets are 13 bucks. I'm going especially for that price. Thats a steal! Anyone know if the new singer is any good? Or can someone give me some impressions at all?
  • During Letters From A Porcupine, Chris says he finds it difficult to watch the video to that song because of Shannon's condition at that time.

  • I like Mouthful of Cavities off of Soup....such a great tune:

"I write a letter to a friend of mine, I tell him how much I use to love to watch him smile......see I haven't seen him smile in a little while.......haven't seen him smile in a little WHIIIILLLLLEEEEE"

    Such a powerful song.

yeah Mouthful of Cavities is a great tune too.

I really love St. Andrew's Fall. It is so unique, and the lyrics are great.

  • The local radio station does theme lunches from noon until one. Wednesday's was "dead guy lunch". Some dude called up requesting BM and I thought to myself (fuck me, they're going to play "No Rain" they always play it). Much to my surprise and amazement they played "Galaxy". Brilliant.

They got pigeon-holed with that song, but the depth to that band is amazing. Great potential...sadly wasted.

Glad to see them back with Travis.

There are a couple shows available on Traders Den. Chicago and I think Champaign. I like the Champaign one better. Although, Nico comes out and sings Change and No Rain in Chicago.

I only got reintroduced to Blind Melon about 3 years ago after I had lost interest when they were around and kind of pegged them into that No Rain-band. But when I got back into them, I fell in love with this song. If I had heard this when I was 16-17, I would have played it almost daily. It would have a song on the soundtrack to my life.

"Find myself signing the same songs everyday
One's that make me feel good when things behind the smile ain't ok"

That was totally me in high school for like 2 years

One of my fav. Melon songs for sure.

Back to the original post...Yes, "Galaxie" kicks ass. I was switching stations on my way to work the other day & caught it on the radio, quite surprised as all they ever play on the radio is "No Rain"...Kicked off the work day in a good mood for a change. :)

  • Great song. BM are probably my 3rd favorite band right behind Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam.

My wife and I are going to see them in Memphis in a couple of weeks. Watched some of their shows on youtube and if you close your eyes, you would almost think it was Shannon singing.
