It is definitely the most approachable song on the album. Soup took a few listenting to's for me to fully appreciate it. The self titled album gets my vote for overall quality though. I am very interested in seeing Blind Melon live this next time around.
I love how he's just talking about a car that he loves to drive. It's a cool story. "The Cadillac is sitting in the back, it isn't me, I'm more at home in my Galaxie"
Awesome double meaning. He did that a ton.
"I've got things to do and things to say in my own way..."
They are playing in Ft Lauderdale, Florida on Dec 5th. Tickets are 13 bucks. I'm going especially for that price. Thats a steal! Anyone know if the new singer is any good? Or can someone give me some impressions at all?
During Letters From A Porcupine, Chris says he finds it difficult to watch the video to that song because of Shannon's condition at that time.

"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"
I like Mouthful of Cavities off of Soup....such a great tune:
"I write a letter to a friend of mine, I tell him how much I use to love to watch him smile......see I haven't seen him smile in a little while.......haven't seen him smile in a little WHIIIILLLLLEEEEE"

The local radio station does theme lunches from noon until one. Wednesday's was "dead guy lunch". Some dude called up requesting BM and I thought to myself (fuck me, they're going to play "No Rain" they always play it). Much to my surprise and amazement they played "Galaxy". Brilliant.
They got pigeon-holed with that song, but the depth to that band is amazing. Great potential...sadly wasted.
Glad to see them back with Travis.

There are a couple shows available on Traders Den. Chicago and I think Champaign. I like the Champaign one better. Although, Nico comes out and sings Change and No Rain in Chicago.

glad to see others digging blind melon after all these years. i've got the first album, soup, & nico on my ipod, and they get several spins every month.

Blind Melon rocks...RIP Shannon,
To answer your question the new singer is really good.I was pleasantly surprised. Only heard 2 with him though but rocked
Exactly good song....I've been saying this for over 10 years and one of my best friends agrees with me too..."Soup" is definetly and I mean definetly in my Top 5 albums of all time...Love how you can just press play and listen...never feeling like you need to skip a song
I only got reintroduced to Blind Melon about 3 years ago after I had lost interest when they were around and kind of pegged them into that No Rain-band. But when I got back into them, I fell in love with this song. If I had heard this when I was 16-17, I would have played it almost daily. It would have a song on the soundtrack to my life.
"Find myself signing the same songs everyday
One's that make me feel good when things behind the smile ain't ok"
That was totally me in high school for like 2 years

Back to the original post...Yes, "Galaxie" kicks ass. I was switching stations on my way to work the other day & caught it on the radio, quite surprised as all they ever play on the radio is "No Rain"...Kicked off the work day in a good mood for a change.
this thread has awoken some love for the Blind Melon.
haven't been listening to them too much in the last 6-8 months.
a nice return.
I love Galaxy, Walk, Change, St. Andrew's Fall, Toes Across The Floor, Skinned etc etc

Great song. BM are probably my 3rd favorite band right behind Led Zeppelin and Pearl Jam.
My wife and I are going to see them in Memphis in a couple of weeks. Watched some of their shows on youtube and if you close your eyes, you would almost think it was Shannon singing.
