What is the closest airport to Brixton? I need an easy way to get there and back quickly seeing as I need to be in Dublin early the next day.

nah, that's the Astoria at that size.
Brixton Academy is something like 4-5000 I think (edit: http://www.brixton-academy.co.uk/venue.php)
but it's nicely slopped so there's no bad view :)
Thanks for that. Yeah was just reading about that, MTV have filemd some gigs there haven't they? I remember seeing footage of some random MTV or KERRANG! type thing and it was sloped, which is a great idea, can't wait for this. I'm wondering how they'll addapt the stage show for this size of gig, and also, anyone see the special guests being special or just some random bands to open?

Well, less than 2 weeks away. Who else is going to this gig? If there's enough of us maybe we should arrange a little drink before/afterwards?

And what do you guys think (i've been asking various friends and i'm getting different answers) As I haven't heard any Tool yet, should I go to the gig with a clean slate and make up my mind then, or should I download some stuff and listen to it to prepare myself????

Don't listen to any, and just go. That way you won't notice how off-key Maynard is nowadays :P

They're one of my favorite bands, and I'll always remember their Lateralus shows, but this tour...YUCK.
  • you know, i am a tool fan but i saw them twice last year and really can't part with nearly forty quid to see them again this year.

why do they charge so much?

Just logged on to ask the same question!
I'm seeing them on Thursday in Manchester.
Any set list info? There seems to be a distinct lack of reviews from their latest European tour, or maybe I'm not looking hard enough...

I went with a mate and he said that that the setlist was quite odd. Another mate of mine said it was one of the best gigs they've been to this year (of Tool).
I'm really not sure what to make of it. It made me aware that they are incredible musicians, leagues ahead of PJ. I think the intricacies of it all went over my head a bit.

Is it just me, or does that sound quite rude :D

Thanks for the link, haven't read it all yet, but glad to see 46 & 2 on the setlist!
  • 9 songs? what a bump!
  • 9 songs? what a bump!

Probably each lasting 20 mins though :D
I love them and, as wash said, they're totally incredible musicians, but the song extensions do get a bit tedious, IMO. Apparently MJK has a throat infection (again) which greatly affects their setlist.
  • so why dont they reschedule?
