I a HUGE fan of both! 'Songs for the Deaf' was a musical masterpiece and all the QOTSA stuff has been great. Kyuss was a great rock band and I love all of their cd's as well. I suggest you check out Dessert Sessions... If you haven't already.
Which came first,
the bad idea or me befallen by it?
For anyone who hasnt heard much stuff from these two bands I suggest you start with Songs For The Death by Queens Of The Stoneage and Blues For The Red Sun by Kyuss.

If you like Kyuss you should check out the band Unida - only did one album featuring the lead vocalist from Kyuss - trumps anything QOTSA ever did.
Ive been meaning to listen to some of John Garcia's other projects but have never got round to it. Ive heard Sloburn are meant to be quite good too, has anyone listened to them?

that slo burn album fucking rocks just as hard as kyuss's stuff
Kyuss are okay...I can't stand their vocalist, I only have the red sun album. QOTSA are amazing. Everything they've done is great, and their first album is one of my all time favourites.
When I first listened to them I didnt really think much of the vocalist either but now I think his voice just fits the music perfectly. Its more about the instrumental than the vocals anyway, check out Welcome To The Sky Valley and see what you think of that album.

Im a huuuge Kyuss and Queens fan.
I have all the Kyuss albums and queens too.
I love El Rodeo. Cant explain why I just do.
Interesting story. Ive partied with QOTSA.
It was just after thier first album came out and
they played at a small club in Winnipeg.
I still have one of the beer bottles I drank.
I also have a ball cap signed by everyone in the
band. I had just gotten off work at a restaurant
and I worked in the kitchen and the ball cap was
part of my uniform. :D:D:D:D:D
