That makes two of us. I must have seen them live at least 12 times over the years and they always kicked ass. In my opinion they made bands like Guns N' Roses look like a bunch of sissies. Hugh Dillon has a new band called the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir. Their debut album "The High Cost of Low Living" came out in 2005 and was produced by the Hip's Paul Langlois:

They just finished recording their 2nd album (with Paul producing again), and it should be out sometime this year. I can't wait to hear it. Here's a cool interview Hugh did last week with George Stroumboulopoulos on CBC's The Hour:
http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/video.php?id=1566"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."

I Mother Earth it is.
Of course, the first 2 albums (Dig & Scenery and Fish) kick ass (Santana-influenced hard rock), but Blue Green Orange is to IME as No Code is to PJ. I am a huge IME fan and I hated Blue Green Orange when it came out so I let it sit on the shelf for a few years. Now I can't stop playing it. Their last album, The Quicksilver Meat Dream was little bit too much Tool-inspired for my liking but there are a couple of great songs on that album too.1/12/1879, 4/8/1156, 2/6/1977, who gives a shit, ...0 -

Thanks everyone for your answers to this.
I just thought I'd feedback on what I've heard and what's impressed me. Four bands stick out so far:
The Tragically Hip
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Wintersleep
Great Lake Swimmers
That's it for now, but I'll keep listening... I need to listen to I Mother Earth (I like their name!), but I'm at work right now.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'
