For sure. He's out touring now opening up for Fiona Apple. I hope he's trying out some new stuff there.
    F#CK!!
Saw Fiona Apple in London the week before the Astoria...there was no opening act... would have been sooo cool to have Damien Rice.

concert was ok btw, but being in a theatre, it was strictly seated..I HATED that, I wanted to move GDI! I'd never been in a non GA gig before...never again
    .
And FA is the anti-EV, didn't say more than 2 phrases in the whole show. I'll take Ed's rants any day... much more friendly

I am seeing him with Fiona in Camden, NJ.

You all need to download the tune "Unplayed Piano" off Itunes.... Good stuff!

For what it's worth, I've seen him twice (London and Glastonbury) and his live show is absolutely incredible. So powerful, and his band is awesome too. Plus he does a mean version of Creep by Radiohead. :)

I'm debating going to see Fiona Apple just for Damien, and then leaving when he's done. No desire to see Fiona, but I love Damien Rice. Saw him at the Beacon in NYC in 2004 and he was amazing. I even went to this weird benefit concert at Carnegie Hall full of Tibetan monks chanting because he played two tunes.

You have to be kidding me.... that is the absolute worst song to use, did you not listen to the WHOLE song?

    Blowers Daughter

And so it is just like you said it would be
    Life goes easy on me
    most of the time
And so it is the shorter story
    No love, no glory
    No hero in her sky

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
    I can't take my eyes...

And so it is just like you said it should be
    We'll both forget the breeze
    Most of the time
And so it is the colder water
    The Blower's Daughter
    The pupil in denial

I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off of you
I can't take my eyes off you
I can't take my eyes off you
    I can't take my eyes...

Did I say that I loathe you?
Did I say that I want to
    Leave it all behind?

I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off of you
I can't take my mind off you
I can't take my mind off you
    I can't take my mind...
    my mind...my mind...
    'Til I find somebody new

Nope...not kidding you...my friend bought his album beofre he got big and got me hooked on it...they both love the album, and decided to use it Blowers Daughter as their wedding song before it was used in the movie "Closer". We all knew about the last part of the song and my job was to tell the DJ when to stop playing the song so that part doest get played

I'm looking forward to seeing Damien Rice open for Fiona Apple at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA later this month. Got great seats for the show!

Hey fellow jammers! Yes Damien Rice is a special songwriter and musician.
I had the pleasure of meeting him at his first gig in Toronto. It was a few years back and he played at a small bar called The Elmocombo. Not more than 200 people there. His band is awesome. He rolled a Drum smoke and I gave him a light. He is so unassuming, I didn't relaize it was him till he introduced himself and asked me for a light. We watched his buddy from L.A
Joel Shearer (played guitar on Alanis Morissette's albums and tours, his band Pedestrian)
open for Damien. Then it was time for Damien to play. We said goodbye, and I asked him if he would play Eskimo. My favorite off 'O". He played it, lying down. It's still etched in my mind.
I met him again outside of Convocation Hall, Toronto, UFT campus, the folowing year.He was filming squirrels for his friends back home in Ireland. "We have only black ones there!" The show rocked again , this time filling up a 1200 seat theatre.
He is coming to Toronto again on July 17/06. He will play at the Danforth Music Hall. Check him out, it will give you goosebumps. cheers Tanya
