    I liked a good bit of herbie hancock's stuff i've heard.

    In particular his album Empyrean Isles was really cool i thought.

    bill evans & art monk rule too of course but they were already mentioned.

    Not quite sure how I left Herbie off my list. If you like Empyrean Isles, try Maiden Voyage.

    His Peace Piece is one of the more moving examples of jazz piano I can think of. It's all the more emotional because it's never over-sentimental or slushy.
