Not really a Piano legend though.
I'd say that's like Jerry Lee Lewis or Larry Harlow.
How about really old guys like Bach, Mozart and Beethoven?

There were more composers than piano players.
I beg to differ. Bach and Mozart were reputed piano virtuosos, especially Mozart. Beethoven was supposedly pretty damn good himself. It's a shame there was no way to record them, maybe they'd make Billy Joel look like a school kid on recital day.

THEN there are all those other ones.
There are so many different styles, too. R&B and soul you gotta love Ray Charles
Keith Emerson - Emerson Lake and Palmer,,, he is a great classical pianist and was one of the ones who brought keyboards into the world of rock.

Mose Allison, Thelonius Monk, and Art Tatum, Bill Evans, (Bin Frog and I should sit down and do some listening,
Beethoven, Mozart, Bach and Chopin were great pianists. Chopin was a “rock star” composer of his time.
And for the Candelabra, nice tall bouffant and mink coat on a guy crew: Liberace. Actually a great piano player.
One of my favorite musicians ever with an amazing voice, if you really want to hear some passion and soul, check out the high priestess of soul: Nina Simone!

Dudley Moore was a great pianist, too. This was a pretty funny parody of Beethoven, and great ending!:

How could I forget that! I LOVE Cecil Taylor,
and how the hell did ever forget one of the greats ever, Sun Ra! I saw the Sun Ra and Arkestra so many times in small clubs in Philly while they would sell out huge venues in Europe.
I just saw the Arkestra play a benefit in Philadelphia, they're local here and one of the greatest jazz prchestras ever.
