    I agree. Fuck him and Chevy...this is just too goddamn much.... so fuckin sick of this commercial I want to burn the goddamn flag at my local dealership and sing "Here's to the state..." this pseudo commercial patriotism is really starting to smell like so much shit!!!!!!!!

    i'm with you, talk about a sellout, there is no way he could possibly justify that shit- images of hurricane katrina victims and then a shot of the new 2007 chevy whatever...........terrible.........i go to a bar every sunday to chill and this commercial comes at me from 20 different TVs about once every 30 seconds..........ugh..........this is one of those things i was thinking about and you brought it up before i did

    but I gotta admit, I'm confused as to why people think Mellencamp is to blame for the images used in the commercial...did he direct the commercial too??

    and lastly, I don't find it offensive either...and yea, I sing along to the song too.

    it isn't a BIT overplayed it's fuckin WAY OVERPLAYED dude... and I'm sure that Mellencamp knew how his song would be used especially since it came out in that stupid commercial WEEKS before it was released to the public,

    c'mon i've tried and I still can't masturbate to that commercial...now the Toyota commercial with Iron Man...now that's where I can rub one off.

    anyone remember the taylor hicks 'possibilities' commercial for ford? he was jiving around like a drunken tourettes patient on stage... terrible

    Three of John Cougar's biggest hits in the 80's were about small town America and now he's desperately trying to revive his dead career again. I wish he'd just get back on the tractor and shut the fuck up. What a disgrace. I hope they play it on country stations that hicks listen to and not the rock stations because it will drive me crazy.

    Even worse is a commercial that they play here in PA for New Jersey tourism. It has a Bon Jovi song in it - "who says you can't go back, been all around the world and that's a natural fact - there's only one place left I wanna gooooow - who says you KEEN'T Gooow hoooome." It has people dancing through meadows and jumping into lakes and walking on boardwalks and shit - It's so fucking bad.

    Bon Jovi also makes an appearance in an Duracell battery commercial. "If you thought all batteries were the same - CONSIDER THIS - Bon Jovi only uses Duracell batteries when they take the stage" and it shows Bon Jovi rocking out and the crowd going apeshit while Jon croons into a cordless microphone with a Duracell battery in it. What is the point? Bon Jovi uses Duracell, so I guess I should too?

    As if commercials weren't insulting enough to our intelligence, now they want us to do what Bon Jovi does and go where Bon Jovi goes.

    when you keep singing to yourself, "this is my country," does this mean you've heard it way too much.

    I also can't help but think of Brian the Dog from Family Guy saying to Quagmire, "isn't there an O in country?" kills me every time!
