maybe some people just love to perform live...

    jeez
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable
  • Tivial and in the same sentance you say he never had a fanbase, wtf,
He has had many of fanbases, he is well known.
He sells out with every thing he does.
He also has a very big women fanbase.
It does make sense, if Ed did shit like this he would be a sell out.
When metallica changed it was about the money. Because they went to more of a rock vs metal sound.
Look I dont know him, but 99.9 percent of hip hop Is dollars and cents, its for young kids.
If Ed started doing shit like this the overqall word would be sell out.
I am not saying its scripture.
But your telling me in 2 years time he has went from, supergroup powerchords,to small venue solo stuff, to hip hop.
    Thats a big fucking bounce.
    sorry.

I love the I would have left Audioslave as well comments, like it was a 1 time thing.
They released an album and got payed, and than he bailed. He could have not bullshitted the fans on the previous tour, and just quit before Revalations.
They were selling out arenas they had tons of fans.
Your posts crack me up. Some seriously funny stuff in there.

    1. We have already established that Cornell does not have a huge fanbase of his own. He has fans of his old bands, sure, but not for his solo stuff; he needs to get his name out there. We all know the troubles Jerry Cantrell had; hence the reformed Alice In Chains - MONEY.

    2. Examples of "selling out with everything he does"?

    3. Yes, his forum has a lot of women on it. But the three shows I saw last year were probably 60% male each.

    4. Ed is in Pearl Jam; he is IN a band, he has no reason to establish himself as a solo artist as of now.

    5. So Cornell quit a hugely successful rock group where he could probably make more money than he could with his solo career. How exactly is that selling out? There are so many contradictions in your post. Plus, although I'm a huge Morello fan, it seems like there was a lot of friction between him and Chris. Plus, don't forget that a lot of the Audioslave fanbase was from either the RATM or Soundgarden side - not so much for the actual band themselves.

I think I addressed most of the points there.

Yeah, Cornell has a fanbase - but that's with Soundgarden and Audioslave. He has a fanbase as a solo artist, but I doubt it's very big, which would explain Euphoria Morning and Carry On's lacksture sales (although his profile seems to have raised a bit recentelly).

Just because he's working with Timbaland, does not mean it's "hip hop." People have bleated this to death around here, but Rick Rubin started off as a hip hop producer. And if it is hip hop, who the fuck are you to write it off? Or who the fuck am I to say it's the greatest thing ever? None of us have heard it.

And broke after Soundgarden? Right, well I doubt that but even if he was, he'd probably wouldn't have followed it up with Euphoria Morning, which obviously didn't get the cash registeres clinging. If he was in it for the money, I'm sure he would have continued to churn out more and more Audioslave records.

You really seem to have an unhealthy hatred towards this guy, and I can't understand it. How about listening to his new record before dismissing it?

It was noted he was broke after sg. He is just weird, I obviously see it from pearl jam eyes anymore.
Chris in sg is the epithamy of rock and roll.
I cant stomach all this latest news.

Why? Because it isn't Soundgarden or Audioslave? I'm not saying the new record is gonna be great, or even that I enjoyed Carry On. But christ, you rock elitsits who think that if there's no guitar in it it's not "worthy" are bloody annoying sometimes.

Hey Muppet, nice to meet you. I enjoyed your post. Some folks are just waiting for their mullets to become fashionable again and the only way they think that is going to happen is if Chris tries to act 25 and then they can live vicariouly through him...

he is opening for lincoln park.
    He does fashion clothing adds.
You also cant assume a soungarden reunion would go over well, their last tour didnt even sell out in philly or new york.

Its great all you guys praise these marketing strategies.
    I think it is ridiculous.
I am also glad my replies make you guys laugh.
Chris is cheesey at best, listen to his last effort.
He is one lucky guy in this forum, becasue he gets a free pass.
His latest music speeks for itself, and For such a great musician to have to open for a band like lincoln park is a waste and a huge step backwards, and if that makes me stupid I stand behind my dumbness becasue they are not a good rock band at all.
And if he needs their fans for anything else beside money .god bless him.

I guess the fact that chris is older than me by 5 years and I cant change that, has something to do with liking a certain level of creative music. Most good musicians move foward not backwards.
Well I for one do not have a mullet, never did, that was an 80s metal thing.
When music is good its good, and a true musician in his 20th year should not be worrying about mainstream success and approval. The only reason chris does is becasue he has nothing left , and it obvioulsy means something to him.
Ride my ass far all you want but in the end this post is true.

Its pretty sad, he should be producing his own album, he should also not be worrying about radio, nor touring with the flavor of the month.

P.S. You dont think Chris is trying to act 25 opening for a band that pretty much has a fanbase of 15 to 25. What kind of measage could he possibly send them.

Like I said free pass for cornell.

So, everyone calling him a douchebag is somehow a free pass? If so, I'll pay for mine. I love your heroic integrity and judgmental nature, but why do I think you don't know the first thing about being a musician or being in a band?

This is a crazy new world as far as music goes and artists everywhere are trying to figure out the best way to offset the rapidly declining album sales. Henry Rollins has done fashion ads, why don’t I ever hear people bitching about that? Nobody questions his integrity.

Look, I may not agree with every decision Chris makes, but as a fan I am prone to giving him the benefit of the doubt. You, on the other hand, act like he took a dump in your Cheerios and cheated on your mom by sleeping with your sister. You sound like some spoiled 10 year old with a ridiculously misplaced sense of entitlement. Guess what, he’s not your puppet and for sheer entertainment value alone, I hope he keeps pissing you off.

I think you went way to easy on me, considering your last 20 posts have been nothing but sarcastic remarks in just about every conversation with like 20 differant fans on here.Go check.
Why does the standard have to be me being a musican, or in a band, to have a negative opinion.
He is out there trying to reach new fans, he has to expect critisicsm from his old. Thats entertainment.
    Its like this.

Gee let me walk around and act like some serious musican, and let old bands die becasue they are to commercial.
Than 10 years later tour with lincoln park and use timbaland as a producer.

I understand my views are way left side. But to act like what he is doing is a step foward, man that is a huge stretch.
Not many musicians get away with this shit, and from the look of it Chris hasnt been. He has went backwards since Audioslave. I appreciate your patronage towards though.

I saw him on the last tour as well and he was spot fucking on, not to mention the brilliant backing band. Face it, you got your panties in a twist for leaving a mediocre AS band and rather than pull them out of your ass-crack you just let them burrow deeper and deeper.

I saw the dc show, the philly show and the ac show.
    I was not impressed.
Maybee it was the music, or the covers, I dont know but I went with people from this board and we all kinda felt the same way.

I will agree with your point in him bailing on Audioslave, my panties were torn off and ripped, his album didnt help much, I went without panties until the shows. Maybee I was burned out from everything.

Alright, I am going to tone this down a notch. Why would you go to 3 different shows if you weren't impressed? I'd think after the first, and for sure after the 2nd, you would stop going. I am a musician and hang in music circles and while a lot of my friends have a similar intolerence of solo Chris, they were still very stoked after seeing his tour and new band. Maybe, that's just because he sang the living shit of Slaves and Bulldozers and they didn't think he could...

    Hope, I guess.
I love Chris, I am 37 not a mullethead in any fashion. He has had an up and down career live, he is a supertalent.
I just laugh at some of the stuff he does and I guess I take it to seriously. I hang with musicians and play drums, not in a band nor am I good enough. But they tell me drummers never make any sense anyway.
The guitar player from buck cherry I thought sucked.
My expectations were prob too high after catching the tail end of the last Audioslave tour.
He was on fire there, if you saw it wouldnt you agree.
He sounded better than any other time I saw him with SG. I was shocked he jumped ship, and than we stand here.
Are you happy with timbaland, and Lincoln Park and this new direction.

Yogi is widely known as a six-string guitar slinging whiz in L.A. music circles and there is no shortage of great guitar players in that music scene. Not at all a fan of Buckcherry but Yogi is hugely talented. Plus, as they became more familiar with the songs, the band became tighter and better.

As far as that other stuff. I don't know. I wish he would tour with PJ, but I won't hold it against him if he doesn't. I haven't always liked the bands PJ has toured with either. I honestly think the Timbaland thing might surprise some folks, but I do know that if you go into a record expecting to hate it, you almost always will. I'll wait before I rush to judgement.

It does make sense, if Ed did shit like this he would be a sell out.
    .

I mentioned this earlier, but Ed DID do this shit. I just don't understand how such a huge PJ fan could talk down on Cornell for playing with Linkin Park when PJ did the same thing. Look here:

That sucks, and I feel even more foolish, but it is what it is. But its not that Im such a huge pj fan that I am dissing on Cornell. I guess its everyhting combined. I just automatically assumed from this thread, that he was doing multiple shows and marketing it. Most of beef was his last album fresh out of Audio's tour. And his endicisive decision making at times.

I don't understand what the problem with Timbaland is. The man IS a good producer and I don't know where everyone is getting the idea that Cornell is going hip-hop.

As for touring with Linkin Park. Honestly, I can't blame him. He gets to play rigth before the headliner to 25,000 people a night instead of 2,500 like he has been doing. I really can't fault him for that.

IMO, Audioslave was garbage. I'm glad he's solo and doing what he wants. I saw his lst tour and was very impressed. Of course, I hadn't seen him with SG, only Audioslave before that.
