  • It can't be done.

no one can fairly do this.

    Dylan is LITERALLY god.

i mean.. that saying gets thrown around a lot.. but this man is quite literally our lord.

    bless him.
Come on pilgrim you know he loves you..

There's no bigger Dylan fan than me, but there's no way I'd ever consider him a God. Sure, he's a great poet, but outside of music he's really done nothing to categorize him as a God.

My favorite is Tangled Up In Blue. Like a Rolling Stone is a very close second. I think it's probably the best song ever written.

    What's everyone else's fave?

My first of his was Times are a changin, and that was my favorite song off of it.
I played that cd into the ground.

Right now I would say 4th time Around. Simple subtle and wonderful.

oh hell yeah. Tweeter and the monkeyman is a gem for sure. I didn't add it originally because it is a wilburys track, even though Dylan was in the band and sings lead vocals on it.

I have to go with Like a rolling stone. The sarcasm is so black that I can't help but love it. So many great songs but this one is so harsh and cold and high and mighty. I love the way it judges without consideration for another point of view. You can really feel the finger pointing in the chest of the one that it is addressed to.

    Once upon a time
    you dressed so fine
    throw the bums a dime
    in your prime

    DIDN’T YOU?!?

    You used to laugh about
    everybody that was hanging out
Now you don’t talk so loud
Now you don’t seem so proud
About having to be scrounging for your next meal.

    HOW DOES IT FEEL!?!
« One man's glory is another man's hell.
You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.
Together in the darkness, alone in the light.
I took it upon me to be yours, Timmy,
I’ll lead your angels and demons at play tonight......»

That's the real great thing about Bob Dylan. The man has written so many songs that have shaped a generation and their children and our children ect... that it truly is hard to pick just one. I remember when I saw him in cincert 6 years ago, and when he started playing Don't think twice, it's alright" I was like wow, here he is at 60 years old (back then) and he wrote this very song on his 2nd album when he was 21 years old. Actually I have gotten even more into Dylan's catalog because of this thread. So, thanks to whomever started this thread, and you are so right on the varied taste for favorite song, such unique variety.

Honestly, I don't think anything is even in the same league as Desolation Row... that song is just epic.

Completely agree...my fav is desolation row, hands down...awesome tune...

Impossible to decide on just one from his vast catalogue. Some off the top :

    Masters of War

    Oxford Town

    Tombstone Blues

    Desolation Row

    Things Have Changed
  • my two favs, second place: Tombstone Blues, first: It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry. I don't know why no one has this one, but I guess to me, it's my fav. bad ass thread by the way.
