Hell, just go get all 4 studio albums and play them every chance you get, even in your sleep. By the time May 2 rolls around you will be so primed for 10,000 Days, that your head could possibly explode.

    Lateralus - Parabol/Parabola, tracks 6 & 7. Turn it up loud, enjoy.

I'd agree to this. Except I thought Lateralus was their least good to this point, I'm hoping for something more with 10, 000 days! But their first three are some of the best albums I've ever heard, especially Undertow and Aenima.
  • You should really just try getting all the albums. It depends on your tastes. If you're into more straightforward heaviness look towards the earlier albums (Opiate, Undertow). If you want to probably get the best image of Tool and want to see their more progressive side, get maybe the latter albums (Aenima, Lateralus). But, overall, you will probably end wanting them all. I find almost every Tool song to be good in some way, so it won't be a problem selecting any really. Just go with what people say on here.

    Lateralus- Lateralus

This goes for over nine minutes but you'll want to listen to it over and over. Its got this great intro that builds up and then the main riff just kicks in. Its a magical moment. The lyrics are really uplifting and there are heaps of cool tempo changes.

i liked the fibonacci pattern he used in the vocals

    Black | 1
    Then | 1
    White are | 2
    All I See | 3
    In my in*fan*cy | 5
Red and yell*ow then came to be | 8
    reach*ing out to me | 5
    Lets me see | 3

    There is |2
    So | 1
    Much | 1
    More and | 2
    Beck*ons me | 3
To look through to these | 5
    In*fin*ite poss*ib*il*it*ies | 8

    As bel*ow, so ab*ove and bey*ond, I im*ag*ine | 13
    Drawn out*side the lines of rea*son | 8
    Push the En*vel*ope | 5
    watch it bend | 3

you lied off of salvia is pretty good, too
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

All of Undertow, Aenima and Opiate are incredible. I've not ben a big fan of anything after Aenima.

Agreed! I've been a fan of tool for almost as long as PJ.(92ish). Laterulus is my least favorite. though still good. just doesnt have the kick the albums prior have.

Aenima seems to have flushed their "edginess" right out of them ;)

Unless you're a big Rush fan, I'd avoid Lateralus completely.

I'd have to recommend all of them...

Tool and PJ were the two bands I got into in 92...everybody ragged on me for it, and now they're the only 2 still around

i don't think there is any confirmation to it being TOOL and Maynard doesn't often use the title of the song in the lyrics..

I guess we'll have to wait till the 17th to find out
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable

What I have is Tool. Itsa 3 minute snippet. Anybody who is familiar with Tool could tell.

It was on a myspace and it was ordered to be removed within an hour. I found it on morpheus

What does the doom 3 song sound like. Hows it start.

If what I have isnt Tool, I want them to join my band. Is the Doom 3 song a complete Tool ripoff. Im not talkin just stylistically. From added spacy effects to guitar sound, drum sound, bass sound and production.

What i have sounds like a take off of Lateralus mixed with third eye kinda.
Ive read shit that the NiN drummer wrote it ..then i heard that it was in fact Tool that wrote it.
