    no kidding.

I'll check out the drumming at the GO, but everything else I have heard has been beyond basic.

Has nobody seen Live at Pompeii? I'm not a big drummer person and don't know much about it but it's the only time I've ever been completely blown away by a drummer.

Nick Mason is a Ringo type drummer. Nothin really in your face and he plays in really basic patterns and signatures. Most drummers mentioned on here are constantly changin what their doin or shifting time signatures.

The question posed was who do you think is the best drummer? So that means one drummer, and I'll mention one guy who was only listed once and that was in a list of like 50:

Carter Beauford from Dave Matthews Band. Even if you don't like their music, or if you've never heard it (apparently the rest of the world), the mutherfucka is a God. Seriously, he doesn't play anything half ass.

And I'd follow up by calling Neil Pert a close second.
  • I know people are allowed to stick to their opinions, but saying Dave Grohl is the best drummer alive made me chuckle. Oh well, if it will make you feel better, you can chuckle at my picks as well ;)

    -Brann Dailor
    -Thomas Haake
    -Danny Carey
    -Martin Lopez
    -Gavin Harrison

I also really love Martin Lopez's drum style and his stuff with Opeth but the guy is seriously nothing next to Gene Hogland. I personally prefer Martin's style though but Gene is just a lot higher than Lopez
