I agree it is about the feeling of a song.. but I still get that annoying whiny vibe from them.. its just not quite as strong as their other albums.. but its there.. to each their own I guess.
I did just listen to Relationship of Command before that.. that could have something to do with it..09/04/05 - Calgary, AB

but thats like comparing it to a piece of shit.....most things are going to be better than that!
Brand New are a really great band. I don't know why they get lumped with the emo tag....it's not befitting of them at all.
Sadly i missed their show in Cardiff 2 weeks ago as I had flu but my friends said it was excellentA democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos.

I don't hate it.. like the other albums.. but it really is fairly generic and boring sounding... so basically i called it.. in my other post lol
sorry kiddies
bharq is too cool for the rest of us
i saw them last night... they were fucking incredible live. the only band i've heard of that formed in the last 10 years and plays a 2 hour set (instead of the pussy 1 hour 15 minute set that even oasis pulled on their tour). these guys are the real deal. they can play. i havent seen that kind of onstage energy since pearl jam's heyday in 95. the guy's voice is excellent, the rockers rocked harder than anything i've heard recently, and the acoustic numbers were performed well to boot. it was a fantastic show. i was totally psyched for the hold steady st patty's day, but they're goign to have a lot of work to do to top last night's show.
they kicked off with highlights from their first album, then played deja entendu in its entirety from start to finish, took a break and played about half the new album. it was phenomenal.0 -

I don't care what anyone says Sic Transit Gloria is a fucking awesome song.Cock Fight.0 -
They brought it all last night in Atlanta. What an experience, I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the setlist. So glad they are back and very hopeful for another album someday soon.Pittsburgh 2013

I had no idea that they were still together. How the hell is Jesse Lacey not in jail, let alone going out on tour?

It seems the band decided enough time has gone by for his metooing to be forgotten? With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
Being a relatively new fan (2020 discovery during covid) I was definitely conflicted about them after I eventually learned about his past like last year or so. I am not saying I made the right decision going, but it seems like a lot of time has gone by and he has acknowledged his fuck ups. I consider Brand New fans to be a pretty progressive bunch, and it seems most have reached the point where forgiveness should be “allowed.”Not to take away from his fuck ups, but I also would still see and listen to bands like RHCP, Led Zep, David Bowie, etc. As do so many millions of people…I don’t know. I usually try to separate meaningful music from the people that created it for the most part.Pittsburgh 2013

Yeah, I don't abandon the art of artists who get metoo'd. I still watch Spacey and Weinstein films, and I still spin Science Fiction and listen to Ryan Adams all the time. It says nothing at all about how I feel about their crimes. It just doesn't get to me at that level. But live shows for such people? That is apparently a step too far for me, at least so far. I guess the degree of separation just becomes a bit too small at that point. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. That makes sense. I know nothing about the rest of the band members, but I am at least glad they can get back to making a better living for themselves again. I would certainly never pay for a meet and greet. I guess that would be my step too farPittsburgh 2013
