REM Appreciation Thread

I saw REM play at the Austin City Limits festival in 2003 and a week later in Toronto and loved it! I saw them play in 2004 in London, ON and it wasn't the greatest. The band just didn't seem into it at all and there was no energy. But I would definitely go see them again when they come around.0

I was at that show, it was great. They played so much rare stuff - opening with Star 69, These Days, World Leader Pretend; and later on doing Maps and Legends, I've Been High, Gardening at Night, Electrolite, what a night that was.
R.E.M. is my favorite band. I've seen them 7 times over the years ever since the Monster tour. Like most of you, I agree that ATS was not that good, but has a few keepers. I really like Reveal, though, about 3/4 of that album is great.
The last time I saw them (in St. Louis at the Fox Theater) was kinda disappointing. It just didn't feel like anything special, but I was VERY happy they played Begin the Begin and Exhuming McCarthy. They closed with Man on the Moon, but I still think It's the End of the World... is the ultimate song to close a show with."As long as the music's loud enough, we won't hear the world falling apart."—Jubilee
